Don’t see it. What a piece of garbage movie. I don’t expect much out of summer popcorn movies but this was truly one of the worst blockbuster movies I’ve ever seen. Five of us went and all of us said it was laughably terrible.

Have any of the Jurassic Park movies been "good" since the first one? I haven't seen anything after world, but they have been pretty sub-par. I mean, there is a certain amount of dumb enjoyment you can get from people trying not to be eaten by dinosaurs, but the series after the first one is pretty much b-movie creature features with a big budget.

Totallly agreed. But this is the worst of them and that’s saying something because the last one with Pratt was awful too.

I liked the last one as it merged Jurassic Park crew with Jurassic World crew.

I was bailing on this because it has no one from previous movies in the franchise.

Unfortunately my wife bought tickets to see this tomorrow because one of my sons is a big Jurassic Park fan right now. I was hoping with it being called “Rebirth,” that maybe they were going to try and do a good reboot of the franchise. The trailer gave me little hope, and now after seeing this post, I’m really not looking forward to it. The Jurassic Park franchise went from a man found away to reincarnate dinosaurs and built a park, to the last Jurassic World movie being an insanely over the top fast and the furious knock off pile of dog ****. Every movie from the first one, just consistently got worse and worse.

The problem is that they didn’t realize after the first movie that the dinosaurs aren’t the main characters. The human characters are what they need to develop and have audiences care about. The dinosaurs are secondary. They haven’t developed human characters that the audience cares about at all. There needs to also be that deeper philosophical conversation that they had in the first about not can you do this but should you do this.

I’d compare it more to the transformers franchise because fast and furious at least attempted to have a recurring cast that they spent time developing depth to. Transformers went all in to the special effects and they were unwatchable.

I didn’t mean to ruin you or anyone’s experience. You may like it! Kids will probably like it. But the writing is so bad which I can get past but when the special effects aren’t that great. And if I see a dino move I want to see the ones we all know. We see T Rex which is fine but genetically altered ones are kinda just stupid imo.

I quit going to these. There’s just nothing you can do with the plot. Every time it’s like people go in thinking they’re safe, dinosaurs get loose and start killing people. What else can the writers even do? I’m surprised they keep coming out with new ones. When the villains in the movie can’t talk and are just animals, you can’t really advance the plot. I’m surprised people keep going to see these.

Dang. My 12 year old has some B&B Theatres gift cards burning a hole in his pocket and has been wanting to take me to this one since he saw a preview for it in April.

It's not Hollywood's fault. They keep recycling crap because that's what people watch. Its hard to break through and make money with original IP.
I’m convinced tentpole movies like this are now very AI written. The amount of movies I’ve seen recently where the script is just insanely bad is incredible.

Hollywood is sooo out of ideas.
Its very true. I saw some post a year or two ago and it said something like how back in the 90's a huge portion of the movies made were newly introduced creative ideas, and then once the teens hit in 2000's, the majority of movies made anymore are just remakes/renditions of old classics, or a continuation or run on of series like fast and furious. So yes, Hollywood is running out of ideas.

I'm repeating but over the years I've realized I don't think the first one is that good although it's probably the best one.

Iirc someone like Ebert put it well that it needed to be more Close Encounters or Jaws but it tried to do both.

I think this has been a narrative for Hollywood for much longer than that.

If it's not remakes it's still same themes or general storylines.
