Swanson has to lead the Cubs by a wide margin on leaving runners on base. JFC what metrics are they looking at to keep batting him 4/5, put his ass batting 8th.

This teams weaknesses are being exploited lately. Injuries have officially caught up to the rotation, third base (offensively) is still a huge issue, and the bench is atrocious. Early in the year the bottom of the order was coming through but offense from the catching position has now totally disappeared.

At the MLB level every player has to be on point at all times. Arenado made 2 key plays along with Burleson. PCA made 2 mental mistakes and those plays made the difference. Cubs, Cards, Brewers and Reds are going to spend the next few months sorting it out. Right now I don’t see any of this bunch that will dominate.

What the Cards are doing continues to surprise me. Their FO did nothing this offseason which would make one think they didn’t believe they were close.

I just saw Brown is going to continue to start at Iowa. That’s a huge mistake if true. He’s not going to start a playoff game for us this year but he could be a valuable bullpen piece. Assad is back in a few weeks so we’ll have depth guys. Hell Wicks has been pretty dominant lately

Judging by his first innings recently I wouldn’t be too excited seeing him trot out of the bullpen either though.

That is because we are not that close, at best maybe sneak into the playoff. The Cards are in transition, bringing up and playing their young players to see just how good they are. Arenado having a bounce back season has been a huge plus, but he has struggled until the past couple of weeks.

What’s the deal with the attendance? Pat and Ron have been shocked by the small crowds the last 2 nights. They said they can’t remember seeing it that sparse aside from maybe late season games when both teams were out of it.
