*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

I fully expect someone to get thrown out of the game by the home plate umpire today. He's having a really bad day and already yelling at the dug outs.

Interesting matchup today our future ace v. A top of the rotation guy we considered in the off season. If we can pencil in Horton as a top of the rotation guy it makes it easier to open the wallet up for Tucker.

Next year we have solid depth and if Horton and Brown continue to develop we could have a rotation full of guys you could start in a playoff game.
Imanaga
Steele
Taillon
Horton
Brown
Boyd
Assad

Not saying we don’t need another starter but I’d be fine with a quality rental

Terrible call on both ejections, come on.
Soft ass umpiring, the zone has been terrible all game. No consistency whatsoever, pitch outside is a strike for the cubs but Horton doesn't get that call. Sucks when the ump show ruins a good baseball game. Can't wait for balls and strikes to be automated.

4 runners LOB the last 2 innings.
Feels like we depend on the HR a lot. Wonder if we get to playoffs if we will be able to manufacture runs if we need to. Lot of well hit balls in this series that didn't drop though. So we will see.

Cubs are 2nd in MLB in runs and 5th in HRs. Also 2nd behind the Dodgers in hitting with RISP.

Yes they are basically top three in almost every offensive category

As the great Crash Davis once said, “ sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and sometimes it rains”.

Sorry it was Nuke Laloosh

Hoerner said to the ump, "You're having a really bad day" and that is what got him tossed.

I know it is entirely up to the ump what rises to the level of an ejection but come on that is soft. MLB, the crew chief, or someone needs to talk to this guy (the ump) and tell him that can't happen again. Didn't decide the game but it sure felt like it was over after it. If your skin is that thin, you need a new line of work.

Problem is that Doug Eddings is that Crew Chief and it's neck and neck as to whether he or Andy Fletcher are the biggest hot heads in that role.

Shouldn't be putting younger umpires with either of those two.
