4 more days of planting I think. Maybe 5. Just gotta keep wheels turning
Yes. They’ll have to be willing to spend some money. What would be "right"? Like someone to put up cash in advance for costs and then profit share? Curious.
Yeah that’s the only thing we’ve come up with. Kicker is, that was supposed to be the variety with a better emergence score lol.One variety? Ask your seed rep. Get them there today see if they have a good answer.
We’ve been planting beans in early April for the past 5 years with great results. Beans seem to handle the stress better, especially with treatment. Plus I’d rather lose population with beans than corn. Trying to have the beans flowering before the summer solstice.April 12 planting. Cold soil temps and challenging conditions put stress on the soybeans. Maybe some imbibing. That’s a little too early to plant IMO. Plants could be weak from stress and not getting good push from weakened plants to emerge.

Only thing we’ve come up with is the variety. Planted in the middle of our planting window and they’re the only ones not up.
I just don’t like putting corn through a tough day if I can help it. Usually try to hold off until the soil is warm enough and staying that way.North Central Iowa here. IMO I would plant corn April 12 instead. At least get past April 15. Drainage needs to be ideal.
Heard some places got a fast inch. That isn’t going to be great for freshly planted fields. Hope crusting isn’t too badTook the rain delay this afternoon. Sigh.
Try again when it's dry.
Emergence score is a part. Could be a batch with a weaker cold germYeah that’s the only thing we’ve come up with. Kicker is, that was supposed to be the variety with a better emergence score lol.
.4 so I'm hoping it will grow thru it.Heard some places got a fast inch. That isn’t going to be great for freshly planted fields. Hope crusting isn’t too bad
Yeah that’s what we’re looking into currentlyEmergence score is a part. Could be a batch with a weaker cold germ

I had 1 round left in a field when it came down pretty good, I needed to get more beans so decided not to get everything all muddy and called it a dayTook the rain delay this afternoon. Sigh.

Only condition that wasn’t great was the temp. Gotta get the beans in early. That’s what the data suggest.IMO if the conditions are too tough to plant corn then soybeans won’t really fare any better. I would park the planter.
Hearing ugly emergence issues with way early planted soybeans. Friend had agronomist take a look and expected a 12,000 stand. We have an alfalfa field that was seeded last year, 50% stand and I mean half the field is OK and the other half has no alfalfa at all. The orchard grass even looks sickly yellow. We had very cold weather this winter with no snow cover and I wonder if that’s what hammered the stand.
Soybeans are generally planted in mid April late April here. That’s early enough. Eliminates a lot of the emergence problems that you seem to be experiencing. Corn was planted here April 12 instead of soybeaans. That corn is absolutely perfect. Stopped planting on Wednesday April 16. For several days and let the cold front coming through so corn could get 48 hours of adequate soil temp to prevent imbibing. That works here. So if you have a stand of 110,000 are you going to leave it?Only condition that wasn’t great was the temp. Gotta get the beans in early. That’s what the data suggest.
If your final stand is 110,000 you should absolutely let it be. I have customers that plant lower seeding rates than that. Have a handful of guys that have fields with terrible white mold history. They are planting at 100-110,000 in those areas of heaviest pressureSoybeans are generally planted in mid April late April here. That’s early enough. Here's the 2 weeks after planting at Ames. My not near informed enough opinion is that you should be questioning the seed quality and variety. Possibly planting depth, technique and field condition.Anyone having beans struggle come out of the ground? I’ve got two fields that I might have to replant by the looks of it. Just not pushing through and starting to snap some heads. Hopefully it rains tonight.
They were planted no till on April 12. There is a small crust but it’s not remotely the worst I’ve seen.
