She’s coming off a season ending knee injury. Missed the entire 24-25 season.
I think the tweet has a typo - she was ROY in the UAAP - University Athletic Association of the Philippines, which includes eight metro Manilla schools. She played for the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, which knocked off the 7-time defending champion, National U, for the regular season title.
Cowgirls have a couple of Big 12 players coming in but also been loading up with mid-major and minor league players. Will be interesting to see if they can play up to P4 level. Stats are good for some of them but they weren't major university players.
When you see teams like Oklahoma State or TCU that are establishing their teams through the portal versus development, it makes you wonder about team chemistry and long-term viability.
Didn't impact TCU last season.
We shall see if there are any impacts this upcoming season.
As long as the players who come out of the portal can put their egos in check and play as a TEAM you get success. That happened last season for TCU, now we will see if they can do it again as you suggested.
Right recruits and right coach and it can work like it does in the WNBA.
We might be in this situation in two years with no star underclassman and an empty cupboard for Fennelly's successor after Crooks, Brown and Williams graduate. Will need a guy or gal like Campbell to pull in a portal class.
This is the situation that was avoided when Johnny Orr retired (or forced to depending on the story) when Hoiberg, Michalik and Meyer were all seniors to be and averaged 20 points each as juniors. Johnny saved ISU MBB twice even if you go with the forced out line for the 2nd save.
Also didn’t hurt they were able to hire a quality replacement. Floyd was one of my all time favs. Like Otz he stressed a high energy defense which was fun to watch!
Nice final list if this is at all accurate. Think Sooners would be a great fit for her as far as system and game scheme. Would be huge recruiting coup for Coach Jenny after landing the #1 HS recruit. So much for people that though the SEC might overwhelm the Sooners, they are in the middle of the mix for the top with SC, LSU, Texas and a resurgent Tennessee. Top of SEC is already stacked but Tennessee just signed another transfer and are absolutely loaded for next season.
Big 12 stuff. And an oddity in transferring back to where she played as a freshman and sophomore.
Just goes to show that teams lose players…their best players. This would be akin to Brown leaving ISU. If that happened the “fire the coach“ folks would be on fire. Now it seems keeping a player is a bigger coup than picking up a transfer.
Oklahoma must have a huge NIL (pay to play) budget. Was reported that Chavez (top high school player) that they landed was asking a million along with all of their others. Kneepkens also demanding a ton. Guessing the million would be more than our budget for our entire team.
The topic of Jenny B replacing Bill came up in another thread so I looked up her comp package. She makes $300,000 base but with outside engagements (personal services, fundraising, promotional, public relations, endorsements, speaking engagements and all other athletics-related contracts), her salary jumps to $625,000 annually. She also gets a $50k raise annually and a $150,000 retention bonus every year. So, there's clearly a large base of support for compensation related to activities outside the program.
Her AAV on her current contract is $1.6M/yr. For reference, Bill makes $860,000.
Side note: apparently OU pays their softball coach $1.8M/yr! I know they're a blue blood softball program, but its SOFTBALL. I can't imagine spending that money on a sport that must bleed money.
Oil money and school pride go a long way.
ISU has a fan base of huge school pride. But when it comes to budgeting we have a lot of common sense. It's great to have sports but damn sports that lose money need to be treated like sports preNIL. Be glad you got your scholarship and take your free education.

With a 1.8 million dollar coach, I'm guessing they are still losing money, BUT it is great to see a sport being supported by a fan base well. ISU WBB looks good on TV but we still lose money.

The last time that I visited Norman, they were in the process of constructing this new stadium. It was relatively close to the "original" one. The original one looked to be in great shape & imo nicer than ISU's home field. (Which is really nice)
