Big Noon Kickoff 2025

  • 34:40: Big Noon Kickoff being a legit competitor to College GameDay

37:33 Cy-Hawk location talk.

Looks like it. It's Cyhawk, BC @ MSU, or Grambling at tOSU if they want to go that route. Fox's slate is horrible. Everyone else is west coast, on the road, or playing FCS.

Makes sense when you look at the fact that the only conferences with media deals with FOX are the Big Ten, Big 12, and the Mountain West and CyHawk is easily the best matchup of the day

Is it the home team that determines the network? I assume it is, if so you are competing with:

Okie State @ Oregon
Stanford @ BYU

SO yea I feel like this is an easy pick

Big Noon is superior, imo. Outside of the month they went to Colorado games every week.
I've read various comments on CF and elsewhere about BNK being better. I'm curious for those who prefer it to GDay, what makes it better.

My lack of viewing those preview shows is more about life priority/flow than anything specific against them.

I watched GameDay quite regularly in early '00s, then less and less as time passed. I was excited when it finally came to Ames, and shows mostly good, other than the guest-picker thing, then later the weather delays AND losing the game, the combo of it all soured me.

They both are cringey as hell to me. BNK feels like they’re trying way too hard. CGD guys are typically condescending pricks, deepthroating the bluebloods. I never sit down and watch it but on weeks we are away, I’ll have CGD on in my garage because it feels more like a fall Saturday and that’s what I grew up with. But it’s mostly background noise.

I like them both about the same...and hate both about the same! If I could pick and choose from the two I would really enjoy the show. Can't stand Urban...and losing interest in Kirk...both of those two grind on me. I think Leinert is good...so is Brady Quinn.

For me it’s just football analysis. Big Noon gives you, “the cyclone offense can air it out with the best of them but their ground game is producing the foundation, here’s Cyclone RB coach guy talking about the preparation and performance of the guys that make the run game tick”.

Gameday gives you, “the Cyclone offense is HUGE, but not as huge as what has happened to one young cancer survivor that met their best friend through an unlikely source, a high school football coach in Texas”

THIS! I was going to post about the number of "human-(non)interest" stories on CGD! That is not what I turn the TV on for on a fall Saturday morning! Same thing with the hours worth of those stories on the Super Bowl pre-game shows!

Honestly, I am kind of like you. I don’t watch it weekly or even in its entirety. It’s background noise to me at this point if I am home. I don’t have kids so my Saturday mornings are typically get a workout in and plan the food and drink portion of the day. College Football Podcasts are usually what gets me through Saturday mornings.

Having said that, Gameday jumped ship a lot time ago for me. Corso was way too old. Mcafee just screams and yells. Desmond can’t open his mouth without saying something dumb. Ex: whining about why they had to talk about ASU/KSU last year when it was a big game. Half of the show is about Kirk’s dog.

BNK is not perfect or even good TV but is less annoying to me personally. I will say if they do come to Ames, just a heads up the games they are located at typically start around 11:15 or later and not right at 11 the announced kickoff time.
