2025-2025 Transfer Portal Needs, Wants, Updates

Yeah 6 months is rushing it. I had mine done in 2010 with a patellar tendon harvested from the same knee. I was “cleared” at 6 months but I wasn’t anywhere near 100% despite doing PT like crazy. I felt better closer to 10 months.
Not positive what your job is but patella tendons are common for those who aren’t on their knees a lot Warme said he likes to harvest the hamstring for people like construction workers and wrestlers.

At the time, I was working in a lab. I had Dr. Crites out of Des Moines do it and he typically opts for patellar tendon unless its someone like a construction workers or wrestlers. I think 6 months is fine for someone that's an everyday Joe but an athlete, you're really gambling at 6 months it seems. It's good to know they are studying the blood flow and other effects of ACL reconstruction for athletes because the mental wear of re-tearing and rehabbing the same knee is taxing.

For blood flow to be back to 100%, it’s roughly 2 years. My kid wrapped up PT in just under 4 months after the surgery, he wasn’t even allowed to play baseball (surgery was September) so he wouldn’t slide into a base. Now think about getting your knee twisted wrestling. Blood flow is what gives it good elasticity, without it it’s like a dry rubber band, works but don’t put too much pressure on it.

Had a kid on our high school team who tore his acl in football, had it fixed, and wrestled on it that year. he wore a minimalist brace and was completly fine. i think a lot of factors go into acl recovery time

There are some doctors that release kids right away. Know several basketball players that were turned loose in 5 months after surgery. A high amount of them were back end surgery by end of the season.

Warme told my kid if he was a senior (it was first game of his Jr year) that he would let him brace it up hard and see what he could do and then have surgery, but with another year and him looking at playing in college it was a no go. We asked if he could put a monster brace on it and basically go Greco style for sectionals in wrestling and it was a no. It was a weak district that year and there was a chance he could have head tossed his way to state.

So we r back on track! 3X Qualifier?!?! Not knowing our NIL budget and current cost for our current roster, is this an incremental step better for next year?…A LOT goes into it, gauging injury recovery for Euton etc etc is Riggins going to contend there or push Gaitan at 74? Have to think this is a bargain buy and if it makes us better ME PERSONALLY I “kick the tires” on him

With Euton 165 and Gaitan 174 I doubt Mayfield fits.

This may be behind a paywall, but I'm pretty fascinated by upcoming roster moves. Roster stands at 36 after the Acklin portal move and including the 4 new signees. Means at least 6 more will be moving on plus more to make spots for new transfers. Don't want to speculate here, but more changes will be coming.

So who should we be "tampering" with to fill our needs?
Tampering really doesn't exist. I think Iowa st likes 125 133 141 149 157 165 174 HWT. Needs are 184 197. Dean Rider for sure is a possibility but likes VA tech. Currently AJ and Cotton for 197. Elam will probably enter the portal at 197 but has been rumored to Iowa. Elam had multiple surgeries this season so not sure when he will be available.
