I want this to be true, but I'm pretty sure it's not.
Agree...I know things are in flux regarding TV and RSNs and the national carries in regards to MLB...but I would hope MLB would be promoting that development as loudly as they are promoting the Dodgers! But then again...when has baseball gotten anything correct of late?

FWIW, I tried watching the Brewers on MLB.tv (that's one of six markets we're blacked out of in Iowa), and no dice. I was told "We have determined this game is unavailable in your area."

The Royals site I frequent says the blackout rules are still in effect and are further complicated by whoever bought the majority of the RSNs being supposedly hard to negotiate with. While they might have a deal with a cable provider, they may not yet with someone like Youtube TV or Sling. Bottom line, if it's carried by a someone somewhere in your area, it will still be blacked out on MLBTV.

Yeah...whoever wrote that for Yahoo has to be incorrect...or I am misunderstanding what he was trying to say?

I think they are just wrong. I just checked MLBTV and there are a handful of teams that do have some in-market packages, but the traditional blackout rules are still in effect for most teams.

Yep...just did the same thing...so far all of my same teams are blacked out...although 2 of them are playing each other.

Pathetic what MLB is doing to the long-term prospects of the game. You don't generate enthusiasm for your sport by shutting people out.

There shouldn't be any confusion as to where and when the games are available but confusion is rampant. We have a neighbor who thinks they are getting MLB.TV games free this season, to include the Cardinals who are "in-market". But I don't think that's true. I think we are going to have to subscribe to a network to see all their games this year (we didn't have to before). We'll see.

Agree...I think they were going to be available but some Midwest teams signed with FanDuel...so you have to use their app. The White Sox app is nice but we have free over-the-air access to the Chicago teams' (not Cubs) channel in Cedar Rapids so I am not going to pay more to stream it on my phone. I do have MLB.TV so I will watch other teams play instead.

Can any of you explain to me what in the actual hell the White Sox plan is? This is a case of the blackouts being a blessing.

They didn't sign with FanDuel, it is the continuation of the current contracts from Bally's buying the RSNs. It has just been rebranded as FanDuel TV.

I thought they broke their contracts via Bally's bankruptcy and they they re-upped? I am sure I misunderstood...but at one point all of the Bally's teams minus the Braves maybe were going to be distributed via MLB.TV and they one-by-one they all started reaching agreements with an "RSN".

Maybe they did. It's still a crap show regardless. I think you can get some of the FanDuel stuff as an addon with Prime.

I'm watching the White Sox on Directv and I don't have the MLB package.

The White Sox (Blackhawks and Bulls too) new channel did make a deal with DirecTV...Fubu too but that is it. Otherwise you have to buy their app or live in a community that has free over-the-air reception like Cedar Rapids. Des Moines has the Chicago Sports Network over the air as well...

We're mainly talking about MLB TV streaming service. You can get all out of market games on it. The problem is, if you are in Iowa, you are in the home market of KC, Stl, Min, ChC, ChW, and Mil. It makes it not a great value at all for any of those teams.

Sounds like MLB.TV is down for most people watching right now...UGH...MLB gets so little right these days!
