Oh I agree if you have a foot in the door with Dix I'd be ecstatic. If it came to fruition, I would hope we try to get more athletic in the front court withba Chatfield replacement.

With that said, I would be surprised if Dix ends up in Ames. Did TJ even recruit him out of high school? If not, I cant imagine Dix took that well. Did he play AAU ball with Devries at all? Indiana/Creighton would probably be my front runners for him.
Looks like we had interest but no offer. But post above says we’re a finalist

Creighton is interested in Syracuse transfer, Chuey tried to recruit him out of High School, Kid from Creighton out of Minnesota would look good in Cardinal and Gold.

I really hope Tavion Banks hits the portal and TJ offers him again. I loved his game out of JUCO and still do. Undersized but is an absolute warrior.
I'm not convinced he's better than Watson, but I guess he could fill that role if Demarion moves on. Also - Demarion would KILL IT in McCollum's system.

I wouldn't say you are wrong. They are 2 completely different players. Watson is stuck between being a 3 and a 4 but Banks is a pure post player.

He also may get his juco years back

It’s fair to ask whether the same reasons why Watson didn’t get more time would apply to Banks, but I’d like to think it’s more a Watson thing than an issue of the staff not able to get value out of such a player

Rock is a good candidate to transfer. Don't see him really being effective at this level, and has plenty of eligibility to play somewhere else.

I myself would hate to see Rock leave - he can be a P5 player - I believe that!

Only thing I see good about Rock is we can’t keep him for cheap and develope him to be serviceable like Chatfield. Play him as a 7th or 8th man to give whomever our starting center is at that point. He is definitely not the player we thought we were getting… yet

7th or 8th man? That’s a major role. It would be best we’re not banking on him being ready for that next year

Maybe 4th big.

Since he should be affordable, keeping him for the upside of his junior and senior years may make sense from our end, although I’d think not from his side.

I really don’t know what to think of Rock. My recollection is Blum saying on pre-season podcasts that we could expect to see him for up to 10-15 minutes/game this year. So one of 3 things happened: Rock underperformed, Chatfield exceeded expectations (or some combination of this), or Blum was given (or was giving) bad information.

Rock doesn’t look ready to me, but we also haven’t seen him in many minutes, and certainly none that were meaningful. But when you realize he’s the age of a true freshman, that’s not surprising, either. I just don’t know how anyone that’s not inside the program could really have a strong opinion about his future.

I don’t recall Blum being that high on Rock’s role this year

From what I’ve followed, his limited PT was not surprising, and him needing more time is a big reason why we brought in Chatfield

7’0” with proven P5 ability are super costly, so spending one of 15 scholarships allowed to see if he develops into a Big 12 rotation player as an upperclassmen is a logical plan

I just don’t see many young players agreeing to that. He could have gone to a mid/low major, got in the court to truly develop. Plus get paid a lot more when some midmajor or P5 takes the chance he can fill a need

Chatfield was the reason both Watson, and Rock didn't play much or at all.

I think it's the first two. Chatfield turned into a beast (albeit spurty) on defense, which is really needed. Rock just doesn't seem to be able to move fast enough to be on a system that thrives on turnovers and fast breaks. He also looks a bit lost, but that might be just the same thing.

Actually I think he is, a lot of people thought he was a developmental type player and that's what he's been so far. To me it looks like he has gotten a lot stronger than when he 1st came here. And with what little court time I've seen him get it seems to improve yr to tr.

That was the rumor. Hadley really wanted to come to ISU and had even silently committed. L'ville came over the top with an offer which was more than any ISU player had with their NIL. The staff decided it wasn't worth meeting the offer and risk to upsetting team chemistry. Hadley isn't an NBA player so this was his chance for a big payday and had to take the Cardinal offer. ISU pivoted to Jefferson, in the end it worked out for everyone.
Pivoted to Jefferson?

That’s some good fortune, kid is nails.
