Well, damn. Was hoping he would be available by the Sweet Sixteen if we make it that far, but far more sad that he had to end his senior year this way. He was a warrior for us and deserved a better fate.

The SEC getting 14 is absurd. They were definitely the best conference this year, but not that much more dominant than the Big 12 who never got that kind of treatment.
To be clear, from what I am hearing this is not actually injury- related. Reference TJ’s quote about “Being done with guys worrying about their offensive numbers” last week.

This team hasn’t looked like they’ve been capable of making a Final 4 run in months now
They certainly are when healthy, we just haven't seen the team fully healthy for enough games. They took Auburn and Houston to the wire, with key guys missing, beat Texas Tech on the road. They definitely showed flashes of being an elite team.

The Gilbert injury feels like Niang all over again. A team capable of making a Final 4 run derailed by a late season injury. Not saying they can't make a run but this really puts a damper on it.
I think defensively Iowa State is hurt the most by this news. We can spread KG's scoring around but there isn't anyone who can replace him who can do what he does on their side of the court.

ISU was 10th overall! Higher than expected

WI got the last 3 seed at 12th overall
Yup you are right
But did not hurt BYU is a 6th by rule they cannot play ISU until sweet 16 so you might have needed to massage the brackets a bit. Conspiracy guy in me.
