On my way back to DSM from Ames. Am I going to run into any hail?

EDIT: So, the answer was “no”. When we left Ames, it looked like the end of the world. In Altoona now, and nothing. Love a good storm, but not a fan of hail damage.

What are you talking about? Literally all of central Iowa is under a severe thunderstorm warning right now

Polk Co. sirens trigger for 70 mph wind in warnings. That warning shouldn't have triggered sirens across the entire county.

Edit: Warnings include different wind speeds. Could be 60, 70, 80, etc mph. 60 mph don't trigger sirens.

That's a different warning than the one referenced in my post.

All of Polk County was in a 70mph warning while you were saying they shouldn't have sirens.

They were right by accident because the NWS issued another one right after that one, and they just did it again. Sirens going off in Johnston at 622pm with no warning in effect for 98% of Polk Co.

In northern Waukee and sirens have gone off 5 different times now and so far it’s been a ginormous nothing burger. I’m happy about that but somebody’s getting to happy with the siren button. The boy who cried wolf playing out in real time

Careful. The individual making those decisions posts here, and they're really sensitive to any criticism.

PDS watch issued for Arkteniltucky.

Also I see a lot of whining in the DesMoines subreddit. There was a moderate chance of severe weather hitting the area. Severe weather hit the area. Shut up.
Yeah, and we never really had the tornado threat. Not sure if people want to watch their house get ripped apart but I can vouch, not a fun experience
