Testing underway. Trying not to take tooooo much out of this session, but Sainz going top 5 so far is a little interesting.

COTA is on my list... was talking to my boss who is a racing fan, he said COTA is really really bad for getting out, think Newton, but way worse.
Granted this was 10 years ago but when I went to COTA getting to and from the track was super easy. You can take a bus round trip between the convention center and the track. Really convenient. The biggest problem, at least when I went was the hotel was far more expensive than the race tickets. I only spent $150 for all weekend General Admission but my Super 8 room was $450 a night.

It would be amazing if Sainz competed against Hamilton this year. Sainz going to Williams instead of Mercedes is crazy. Max being the best driver coming through the system has made some of these teams do stupid stuff just to promote their junior driver's thinking they are the next Max.

That just ain’t gonna happen though. Williams may be improved, but I’m taking exactly zero from these testing times.

Hell last year Williams always popped up on Friday free practices with times right up at the top, but they were always low fuel glory runs that no one else was doing. Quali would come around and they’d be right back to the midfield. I’d expect they are doing some of the same here.

Unfortunately I think he's correct, but man it must be hard to go from competing for wins every weekend to your goal being maybe to finish in the points.

Was listening to Missed Apex podcast over the weekend. They had on the old Renault Team Principle. He doesn't think Cadillac will end up on the grid next year, due to the fact that they will have to have their own PU.

Yes, it's GM, but one has to think... will they just end up buying Alpine?

That talk starts around 45:00

I hope he can find his way to a big teams seat again soon. Carlos is the best

I think his only hope at this point is enough of the up and comers flame out they don’t have a choice. Teams have made it pretty clear that they’re gonna give at least a seat to a young guy so they don’t miss out on the next Max.

The one thing that stuck out to me about the DTS season is Flavio Briatore. I knew of him, his reputation, crashgate, etc. But the behind the scenes type of stuff they got with him in DTS makes Alpine bringing him back look crazier than it did already. I think they are in for another roller coaster type of season if he's as integral to the team as DTS made it look.

Yep, did on Friday and Saturday, it was... okay same DTS... they took a lot of stuff out of context. Specifically the Miami Lando win... that Max being pissed was so dumb
I don't watch DTS, but I saw a clip breakdown using the background details for each shot to show they used like 3 different post-race events to make it look that way.
