Sounds like we can solve this by getting rid of negative temperatures and midterms. I believe in you JP.
Meanwhile the students are complaining that the adults sit most of the game and quickly sit after an opponent responds to a run by ISU. Everyone has complaints.
And then there’s people like me, mid-twenties recent grad that complains about both the “adults” not cheering and the students not showing up…idk I’ve been a little down on the Hilton atmosphere this whole season. Yes, it was good when it needed to be for the big games (Kansas, Marquette) but it hasn’t felt as good as the past for the non-marquee games. But what do I know
I thought I had assigned seats when I bought basketball season tickets my Fresh and Soph year; 95-97. I do not ever remember waiting in a line to get into Hilton. Just walked across the street.
I do remember the seats rotating, so during the season the seats would be in different sections

The only issue I see with the GA system for students is that it’s self-reinforcing. The students who care the most get there early to get good seats, which makes sense. The students who care the least tend to get there later and sit in the upper deck. The upper deck doesn’t feel like it’s part of the student section, isn’t as fun, and isn’t a great seat. So these students, who already didn’t care as much, have a “meh” time and are less likely to come back. Along with this, culturally other things have displaced live sports a bit. There is so much entertainment available at your fingertips now.
Students have only been turned away like three or four times since the system went into place a couple decades ago from what I understand. I don’t think the experience at games like Iowa and KU is stopping kids from going to Cincinnati, it’s that they don’t care as much (and it’s brutally cold out). If they instituted some kind of seniority or lottery based system though I’d be fine with it. It’s getting to the point where you likely won’t get worse results than we are currently getting.
I wouldn't be surprised if students were turned away last night. It was full when I walked in 45 minutes before tip.
Small data point but it seems like the student sections were pretty full for Arizona and Cinci. To be fair how many people would want to sit in the upper deck corners (especially the top 10 rows) for ANY game. For games like Colorado or UCF those should be like $10 tickets. If those were the only ticket options for me I would stay home and watch the game on TV.
I saw student aged people leaving the area about an hour before.
We tried to get there super early for the bobbleheads.
So much ******** about the students every year. Always seems people just want their seats.
Four of my five kids have ISU degrees. Yes we have paid thousands in athletic fees. Games during midterms or before finals are rough. Only games they ever missed were when they had a night exam the night of a game. Some of those core engineering courses have those quite a bit.
The oldest of the four who were Cyclones dutifully went to everything. They earned points then for going to other events such as women’s games. They were supposed to get in earlier at the games like KU and CyHawk if they had so many points. They were close to the front of the line for KU but his girlfriend got shoved into the wall and injured in the stampede. He took her to first aid and their seats then were in the rafters of student section. He also barely made it into a Cy-Hawk with an early start because he had a late class with required attendance. They let him and some others stand on the parquet.
I guess with salaried athletes and NIL, it’s getting harder to remember that the U stands for University.

Students turned out very well last night. Really brings a lot to the house. 
Hey now, careful there! I've had corner balcony season tickets in row 11 for about 20 years now. They aren't horrible seats. I'm not willing to pay what it costs to get better seats but you'd be surprised what seats like ours goes on the resale market for a game like last night. I have a seat in block of 4 seats with 2 other friends and over the years we've sold anywhere from 1 to all 4 seats for a Big 12 game and got some pretty good prices for some games.
Props to the students last night for packing their sections. Was a great atmosphere last night and they were a big part of why.
Some students were next to us going in the north entrance 15 before tip. They have dedicated student scanners and the lady told them it was full but still let them in
Yeah we paid $75 for tickets for Row 8 corners against KU two years ago. They weren't bad seats but I definitely thought I wouldn't have wanted to sit much higher than we did.
Another year, another thread complaining about students when they’re in the top 25% of the country and can ramp it up further at times.
Hey, some of us buy season tickets in the upper deck corners and love those spots.
Being anywhere in Hilton is much better than watching on TV imo
