On the other hand, this is most kids' best/only chance to make this much money in their entire lives in or out of wrestling. I hate the system, but I can't blame a high school junior for committing to a school that promises a 7 figure payday. Heck, I'm still waiting for mine!
I don't like where this is going for the sport or for most schools including ISU.
And if they learn how to invest even a fraction of it at this early age, then it’s transformative wealth in the long run. But I’m guessing most 18 year olds don’t think like that these days.
NLI is going away isn’t it? Don’t they plan to sign contracts now with the NIL money?
In the past 40 years, Rutgers has had 12 different All Americans for a total of 18 AA honors. With Bo and his high school team taking over that roster they’d break that number in 2 seasons. Rutgers has been pretty pathetic for being a powerhouse wrestling state
No idea. There is suppose to be an accounting firm looking at any NIL deal & making sure they aren’t pay to play. I also thought if they sign with the school, the university has control of the NIL deals. Not sure how any of these will get cleared

Unfortunately seems to be true.
PSU will develop the best (and recruit very well), Iowa and OSU will get top recruits and AA transfers.
I keep buying powerball tickets a few times a year with hopes of changing that.
We'll be lucky to scratch the top 10. We aren't recruiting well and we don't develop well.

You’re kidding yourself here. I hope he doesn’t end up at Iowa but if he does, I hope he drives wedges in that program. But he’s still a 1000% take.
But not as much as you’re kidding yourself. He’s a better training partner than David Taylor? To say nothing of Wyatt Hendrickson?

Nit picking here, but he's not going to have Wyatt Hendrickson as a training partner unless he plans on spending some time on a US Air Force base lol. Hendrickson got an exemption to use this year at Ok State and then he's going to be right back into a military career.
What are you even talking about? Yonger is a way better training partner. Dreshaun fit was way better here but whatever.
He actually got an additional 3 yrs for Olympics so he will most likely be in Stillwater for the next 3.5 years
I love Yonger, but DreShaun is going to have David freaking Taylor as his head coach and in the room for upperweights. That’s not taking anything away from Yonger, that’s better than basically any other program can offer other than PSU.
Not to mention, whatever transfer heavy they get for this next year (or Merrill). But maybe they plan to just roll with Doucet.
So who would you rather roll with Connor Doucet or Yonger Basitida? It’s whatever it’s over. He can have David Freaking Taylor. I’ll take Kevin FÚCKEN Dresser
This is the first time I’ve heard this. Then at the age of 28 or 29 he’s going to go active duty for the first time? That’s going to make life challenging if he decides he wants a family.
