For this team to take the next step and reach its ceiling……they need that ”hungry you’re not going to beat me” dawg mentality that they showed down the stretch today, but for a full 40 minutes.

His team played like he coaches....whiny and not tough. I'll take the even keeled TJ all day long as his team does not waver from who they are.

The end of this game is what elite teams do to just good teams. I thought the difference in the game was when JJ started taking it to the rim. His aggressiveness with the ball changed how ASU had to defend us. They sagged more and just that little bit of space gave KG some space. KG hits a big 3 and the bucket gets unlocked. But the key always seems to be JJ.
Damn, had to take the kids to an event so missed the 2nd half. Someone must have lit a fire, they looked completely out of sorts in that first half.

TJ's teams iirc have been very good at closing things out and this one is a higher level of it.
If you can keep the fouls at bay and a close game you can crank it up a notch while the opponent is exhausted.
Weird turnovers/impatience and/or an opponent with length on the perimeter will imo be this team's issues in an upset.
I don’t think the refs were criming the game for betting purposes. I think they were just bad and doing the typical ‘home team gets home calls’ BS.
I do wish the NCAA would make bench decorum a point of emphasis, and end this whiny coach ********. They shouldn’t have to deal with coaches like the Hurley brothers. And their antics do affect games.
Not in the tourney, but Brockington and Kalscheur had back to back 30 pt games early that season.

This one felt similar to Iowa and Colorado, only difference is we saw more Watson than Heise down the stretch. Some of that was due to Heise getting earlier minutes bc of Gilbert's fouls but TJ really seems to be liking Watson again, just like every year. He definitely trusts him.

That game changed SO quickly down the stretch. In a good way.
Although it's easier to watch ISU have it in control throughout most of the game, there's some satisfaction from pulling the rug from a team that's on the cusp of an upset (even better when it's on a road game).
