It would absolutely make sense for Hilton Corp to want to have a hotel there because of the Coliseum.
Honestly, I would bet atleast 80-90% of non ISU fans probably think the Coliseum is named after the hotel chain a la Marriott and BYU.

does ISU have 20 donors / corporate sponsors that can and will?
They must have quite a bit of interest in the condos. The original renderings from 2022 included 20 condo units. The BoR contract proposal that was just released proposes 60 condo units.

They could have expanded the offerings to include smaller units at lower price points, but the buildings that house the condos have grown from three stories in 2022 to five stories in the most recent proposal.

Scarlet Hotel - Lincoln

This is a hotel property that Goldenrod developed in Lincoln, NE. I would think that this would be a similar concept to what will be built in the Iowa State Center next to the Scheman Building.

Note that there is a rooftop bar on this hotel!
Looks ok but I really don't like the plastic blocky design that a lot of new buildings have.

I hope this hotel has some of the brutalist design features so it's cohesive with the rest of the Iowa State Center but with some updated modern touches. I love the architecture of the Iowa State Center hopefully that is preserved with this.

That'll do.

It would be an amazing place to hang out on game weekends up there.

Stayed in the Graduate in Madison. Lots of cool decor, local references and many an homage to Rodney Dangerfield's "Back to School."
They could have really gone all in with a high dive board in their pool so guests could attempt the Triple Lindy.

The elevator opens directly to a bar when you go to the top floor. It’s called Trippalindee with lake views, trivia, food and beer of course.

I think the “can” is an easy yes. The “will” might be a little different. Say you’re a wealthy person capable of buying just about anything. Are you really looking for a second (or even worse, primary) home on a college campus? LOL.

Seriously a Hilton at the Hilton seems like a can't miss promotion for them.

I assume we’ve already tried to tap into, for naming rights too, and the interest wasn’t mutual.

4-year residential colleges will increasingly be luxury goods. Major college athletics and things like CyTown make a lot of sense as a product differentiator over going to a CC or online.

There’s not many better real estate in Iowa for mixed use imo. Close to a major university and all its offerings, and even better, thousands of captive consumers many times a year that already spend money to socialize/eat/drink in that location before and after.

I’ve been hoping for 20 years they’d tap into the potential for mixed use to get investment for upgrades to NEZ/JTS.

But then more people will think Hilton is just a sponsored arena name and that would be sad lol. I assume some people think that idk. But it does make sense. Hampton by Hilton at Hilton Coliseum.

As an out of state fan already open to a second home near ISU athletics and family, 100% interested. Nothing against Iowa, but that location would be on a rather short list of places in Iowa worth considering. I’d pay a premium if CyTown is anything close to some of the stadium developments around the country. Buyers could recover some of the costs throughout the offseason, if desired

If I had more faith in JP’s ability to execute something completely out of his wheelhouse, I’d be wanting to invest in the development of such a place

To expand on - it’s not even buying. It’s renting a $5k month apartment.

No need to get naming rights when the place is already called Hilton. Most people outside of Cyclone fans don't know That Hilton isn't Hilton Hotels is not the company that is the Sponsor. So basically Hilton Hotels has no reason to give us more money to keep the naming rights when they already accidently have them for free

I think you will find some of these being bought then rented as VRBO type locations. Even on non event times these would rent out, and during event days they would skyrocket in price. Basically they would pay for themselves on event days, and the others would just be profit.

I also think you may find businesses leasing them and using them as perks for clients etc. or an extension to their suite inside JTS. Similar to how many invite clients to their suites, or give out tickets, and host tailgates for clients or employees.
