Um, was I looking at different renderings that were released a couple years ago? The renderings and video were absolutely very much TitleTown lite. How on f***ing planet earth is that confusing!? They were very ambitious and exciting. And yeah, logically we all knew it would be a long shot.

LOL - Pollard in this video…

So are you upset more about the aesthetics or the size? Because the business composition of what was proposed then and what is proposed now is basically the same (a clinic, an anchor restaurant or brew pub, flexible retail/commercial, and some residential).

In terms of size, it does look pared back with the lack of the L-shaped buildings. Although, it looks like the BOR agenda rendering has taller buildings (2 at five stories and 2 at three stories) than the previous renderings, so the total square footage might be closer than you'd expect. For instance, the site from a couple years ago said 20 suites/residential units, while the BOR agenda has 60.

In terms of the aesthetics, I don't think anyone should treat the very un-detailed BOR agenda rendering as gospel. Will it end up looking as nice as the 2022 renderings? Probably not, because the actual results never do. But there will certainly be more aesthetic elements than you can identify in an image that is really just intended to show what kinds of buildings will be there.

I think people are focusing on two different aspects of this most recent update. One can still expect this project to be a financial boon for the AD while also being less enthused about it.

In terms of overall financial viability, this plan does make a lot of sense, and I expect it to succeed.

But it isn't unreasonable for fans who were excited for an entertainment district to be disappointed when these two buildings, each with a rooftop seating area flanking the stage, appear to be gone entirely.

I, and I'm sure most fans, don't really care about the amount of office or residential space. Outside of providing revenue to the AD, those don't add to the gameday (or any day, for that matter) experience for 99% of our fans.

I'll wait and see, this could still be a fun area, but it's completely ok for people expecting what the AD pitched years ago to be feeling a bit let down by the BOR layout.

why does the hotel need to be next to Hilton? Why not put it on top of one of the Cytown Buildings or within that grouping? People staying at the hotel can walk out the door and have food, beverage, entertainment and retail options right there. I know it is still relatively close, but why have a sizeable parking lot in-between? I just think ergonomically and aesthetically it would be a better fit within the main Cytown building group.

It's intentionally connected to Scheman to host conferences. That's going to be a huge driver of revenue and provide a captive audience that will utilize any F&B establishments in CyTown.

Yeah, conferences are going to play a huge part in the overall success. You can't make this work just off of ISU sporting events. And Ames/ISU has lacked the ability to host bigger conferences.

I guess to me, even something like the rooftop seating is too much to get worked up over about the BOR doc, which is more of a developer agreement than any kind of plan for the final design of Cytown.

Most of these comments and concerns are over the rendering on page 3, which I believe is the only mention of the number of buildings or any allusion to what they might look like. It's not a building plan and isn't supposed to be a building plan. It wouldn't show details like rooftop seating and probably isn't final on the shape, specific position, or specific elements of the buildings. The buildings by the amphitheater are still in basically the same spot, just removing the L-shaped part. You could still very well have rooftop seating or balconies overlooking the amphitheater.

I just don't think the document reveals anything for certain about Cytown that is substantively different for fans from what we knew previously. Maybe it won't end up being a good fan experience. But it doesn't seem to me like there is any specific element that is necessary for a good fan experience that was possible in the previous renderings but isn't possible now.

Guessing the ACTUAL renderings will come out shortly after approval by BOR. I know the developer wants to get shovels in the ground as soon as possible.

What's being shown now (and really has been for most of this project) is very, very similar to Title Town. Power & Light and Title Town are two fairly different developments. I think there are a fair number of people that assume Title Town and Power & Light are very similar things. They have been to Power & Light (and probably not Title Town) so when Title Town has been mentioned for the last couple years they keep envisioning Power & Light in their heads.

Got it. I didn't even think of that, Obviously. LOL.
Years ago there was a bond put to the City to attach a hotel to Scheman, it didn't pass.
I personally think it would have been good but I am unfamiliar with what was all needed bond wise.

Yeah shame on those silly ignorant terrible fans who had visions of places like Power & Light and TitleTown when... the AD and the promoters of CyTown literally used those exact places in their communications, marketing, media/radio appearances, etc. It felt pretty clear and obvious (and was shown in both the initial renderings and the later updated renderings/video flyovers) that a 'lite' version of these places was the "hope" all along, and these specific references helped generate the majority of the buzz over the years on the project.

So yeah, count me in as one of those idiot fans that "do not want to hear" that it actually won't be anything like that and apparently that was the plan (or expectation) all along.

I guess I am not sure where the disconnect would be, between those initial renderings at the outset, and what is shown in this rendering for the BOR meeting?

The BOR renderings are stripped down to just show the buildings and layout, but everything looks about the same as the original proposal to me.

Wonder what the condos would cost?

And how much net worth do I need to have, to be able to safely burn that much money, just to have somewhere close to go sleep after games?

Scarlet Hotel - Lincoln

This is a hotel property that Goldenrod developed in Lincoln, NE. I would think that this would be a similar concept to what will be built in the Iowa State Center next to the Scheman Building.

Note that there is a rooftop bar on this hotel!
i was/am hopeful for a graduate hotel
but what you've posted looks similarly cool
