2025 Athletics Update

We already have some of the highest prices in the B12, and really all of CFB. Now just getting higher.

I have showed this before, ISU prices are really really high. Cyclone club requirements are also really high, when comparing to other schools.

It sucks. But it is the new norm. More and more is getting put on the backs of the fans.

Raise prices, raise donations, raise NIL. At some point something has to give.

I think you will see more big concerts at Jack Trice. The George Strait concert netted an absolute pile of money this year
I really hope so. I hope they bring in diverse entertainment as well. Country "music" doesn't work for me.

I haven't seen these comparisons for about 4-5 years. We were on the lower end at that point in time. Do u have a site or the data to compare?

Pretty good summary of college athletics when an AD brings in $150 million per year and complains about being broke and needs the fans to cover the costs while TV revenue has surged in the recent decade.

In the last 10 years, Big 12 payouts alone have increased $15 million adjusted for inflation, and that’s before the coming increase in revenue coming from CFP deal.

For at least the last 3 to 5 years of that decade, it was easy to see paying athletes had become the foremost cost for the department

Since JP was apparently caught off guard by the P2 getting larger shares of CFP, someone needs to warn him not to count on the Big 12 getting equal treatment when the college basketball postseason is redone in 2032

Nevertheless, we’ve long been at the bottom in the conference in terms of donor/fan giving. It’s was JP’s job to change that, but hopefully the change’s stemming from the House settlement will

This is about making it to the other side (employment, CBA and salary cap, hopefully PE or something else consolidating the top of sport). We need to be one of the schools at the forefront of selling future upside to investors/PE, both at the school and conference level

Literally laughing out loud at the idea that introducing beer sales will usher in drunk fans at ISU football games.

This was the laugh I needed today. Thanks folks.
Agreed. Last time I checked myself and everyone around me is good and loaded prior to the game starting. And in the case of KSU this season, we continued in the stands for all 4 quarters.

Knew this was coming.. didn’t think it would come out Jan 1 however..getting to the point where I can spare the 2.5 drive and watch the games in the comport of my living room..

We have fewer donors than most big schools, don't we? Our tickets have always seemed relatively inexpensive.

I think the hardest thing is going to be a reshuffling of salaries in these coaching staffs. They all made a living off the backs of student athletes and now this is being flipped on its head. Does Fennellys staff really need 1.8M in salaries? Can some of these coaching staffs have shared positions with other sports? I’m sure this stuff gets talked about but would have been nice to share some vision in his letter rather than here is your increase and btw we are trying cutting 10% from other departments.

Wow. In general, all opinions with no substance.

Why should the tickets be exempt?

In my opinion anything associated with a University should be exempt.

Why should new construction and remodeling be exempt for the Construction industry? And only repairs be sales taxable?

Why should Accounting and Legal Services be exempt from sales tax?

I just did it on this site a few months ago. If you want, look around. We have some of the highest prices in all of the B12, and most of P4. Just our ticket prices are higher than most, then our donation levels on top is higher than most. I have done the comparisons and posted all the info here, I am not going to do it again.

If you dont believe it, look it up yourself.

Not sure why people continue to say our tickets are cheap. Our football and basketball tickets are in line with top programs and in many cases, more expensive than our peers.

K-State season FB tickets max out at $360. Iowa’s are $400-$600. Wisconsin’s max out at $500. Auburn’s are $495-$555. LSU maxes out at $600.

Ours are $650.
