@alarson ok I see you are hammering a bunch of dumbs out there. We have to get to $20 million in increased budget due to revenue sharing. We also have to take care of the two revenue generating coaches with new contracts. Which I guarantee both are taking less than they should. What’s your answer to get to $20 million without raising prices?

Are we going to be funding tennis and swimming and other non-revenue sports at the same levels we have been previously?

ISU lifts its skirt for Iowa politicians at literally every opportunity that presents itself, but they don't have the juice to get the law changed to exempt athletic tickets from state sales tax?

Seems like the lowest hanging fruit possible there. Swing and a miss.

Generalized comment that means nothing. Do u really think they haven't thought thru this?
And blanket-raising prices was the best and only solution they came up with?

Look, I get it, this is the way of the world of CFB now...but we are not a fanbase stacked with rich people. If we already were, we wouldn't be having the problem. Pricing out the little guys is a dangerous game when we're primarily built on little guys.

We can't drop any more sports. They all have to stay. My guess is we fund those at almost the minimum at this point.

This isn't really pricing out the little guys.

You don't have to donate to the Cyclone Club to get football tickets. So your increase is 7%. That's no unreasonable for a nationally relevant program.

I think it does.

And I think that is HUGE and, if true, very good news. There was a podcast not that long ago that CW and Blum basically said there's no chance we can fund $20 million for quite a while.

This is just another form of inflation everyone complains about around all other forms in their life, added on top of those. Are we so confident people won't scoff at these increases for a few football games?

Sporting events is a pretty easy thing to cut from the family budget.

Just look at this as 7% increase in price. If it wasn't the sales tax thing, they'd just be increasing ticket prices. Who cares what they call it? Frankly, it was stupid that they weren't doing this before.

Some people will. But they obviously believe enough will stick with things. You can buy season tickets for $199 I think. A family of 4 pays $800 for that. That's less than $100 increase.

I’m not sure what people expected here. Were we not expecting costs to have to rise because of the changes we’ve seen? It’s either this or we play aren’t competitive. It’s as simple as that. I know I’ve enjoyed the past year of ISU athletics and would like to keep it going.
