ISUCFVMB Involved in Bus Crash Outside Chattanooga

Heard from a band member on one of the other buses that the school bus merged off a ramp in close traffic and braked, causing the Windstar motorcoach to rear end it.

You don’t cause others to rear end you when you use your brakes. You are rear ended because others are following too close and are at fault.
You merge into a tight spot and then quickly go for the brakes?

No idea if that's what actually happened, but it's a way to explain how it would be the school bus' fault.

Generally I agree, though, that rear-ending is usually caused by following too closely.

If you merge in in such a way there is no way for the vehicle behind you could brake in time, and then slam on the brakes, its silly to think that's on the vehicle behind.

My daughter is in the marching band. Scary for the kids on the bus that was in the accident, but all the kids are okay.

It’s a long process to get 350+ kids to Orlando and back. It was 31 hours to get down there. They left yesterday morning before 8 am and will get back to Ames around 2:30 this afternoon. They had expected to get back around noon. Great group of kids that are super dedicated to the Cyclone game day experience.

You are saying that if you are driving and a vehicle cuts infront of you and slams on their brakes that you should have known that was going to happen?
