I imagine rent is stupid high and 75% of your customers are gone for 4 months of the year. Summer is a bad time for these places. It's basically been a decade since anything has happened to the lot next to Mr Burrito, it's a depressing site. There's so much space in that area just not being used, like that old restaurant across the street for welch ave. That closed over a decade ago and has sat empty since.

Yeah can't imagine it looks very appealing for potential students and families visiting. Unfortunately CyTown won't make things any better...
Maybe Iowa State can buy that lot and build something. I feel like the they're pretty much built out on campus. Without building in more green areas that is.
We used to live behind there on Tripp Street. The amount of chicken bacon ranch wraps I consumed from there is insane.
Was just in Ames for Homecoming. Friend and I were walking around Campustown early afternoon, 2ish…we walked into Cy’s Roost and were promptly told they didn’t open until 3, it was 2:10 on a Friday!!! We laughed and said “guess nobody FAC’s here anymore!” Heck, we would be out, go home, nap, and head out for the night! Sad to see those changes! Not having People’s on the corner is disappointing too!!

Try going to any Welch bar, except Welch Ave, during a game day Saturday. Nothing else is open until like 9pm…
do kids just not go to bars on game days? every game this year has been so late
That generation is 1) drinking less as a whole; 2) going out way less because it's ******* expensive to go out, even on Welch; 3) going out only after getting sufficiently drunk while pregaming, so places are ghost towns til it's dark.

This is the saddest thing I've read all day.
I feel like that has been going on for a long while now. I will say it was surprising the one Friday my wife and I were down in Ames I think probably around 4ish and there was almost 0 kids out enjoying FAC. WTF? I remember a whole crew of us would meet up just get hammered, go home sleep for a few hours wake up shower and then start the night again...
Also this generation needs to stop being a bunch of pussies with their fruit flavored vapes and enjoy some drunk cigs like George Washington wanted us to.
I've never thought of CyTown as something targeting current students, but I'm also very nervous about it.
