I agree, I like good back and forth. Have a friend who is a hawk fan and we have good discussions. I listened to a couple of them but hassel’s stuff just seemed bad to me so I stopped listening after a couple. The JoBo one was the same way. They were so off topic and bouncing around I didn’t find it interesting. Most interesting was how JoBo could find new was to use the f bomb.

JorBo was annoying, and I stopped listening eventually, but I’m glad I tuned into the episode where he claimed 20% of their games were fixed. I appreciate good comedy.

Not everybody can do a podcast. I think it's probably much harder than it seems, and both CW and Hassel, Murph and Andy have been in media a long time so they know what they're doing. The others you just give them a shot to see if they can find a groove over time. Most of the time, they won't, but it isn't costing much to try. I appreciate the effort to find a way to make local content work, national sports radio is the absolute worst, most unlistenable dreck. They depend on their outrage generators there even more.

Lol, some of you guys just need to come out and admit you had no idea what a "heel" was until you watched the Vince McMahon documentary.

Iowa was gassed. Exhausted from actually playing defense instead of taking half the game off. Can't make shots with dead legs.

ISU won this game by conditioning and quality depth, esp at guard. ISU had 57 minutes out of Heise and CuJo Iowa had 4 minutes out of Pryce Sandfart, closest thing they have to a guard off the bench apparently.

Looking at the statline... My gods, what is this game like if Dembele doesn't stumble out of men's room to hit 3-3 on three pointers in 14 minutes? Is it just a crushing blowout from the 10 minute mark of the 1st half?

We've run into longer guards/athletic teams that can play aggressive defense for one game, when it's not their usual style, which gives us problems (ie Illinois). Iowa is not that team. Too much effort on the defensive end affects their offense and their only way of winning: outscoring opponents.

Felt like one of those football games where one team is connecting on big plays and moving the ball, but settling for FG's, while the opponent slowly begins to take over momentum. Iowa couldn't expand their lead when playing almost playing a perfect half.

Even people get tired of a heel's routine and the "heel" had to switch it up. Undertaker started off as a heel, Mick Foley started off as a heel. Steve Austin started off as a heel. Even when you are good guy people get tired of it. Hulk Hogan turned heel after being a baby face.

That’s….the whole point we’re trying to make. We’re not the ones in this thread you need to convince.

And yes, it’s still a product. Engagement matters in their business model.
"Follow the money" about 2GNC is a little melodramatic is all I'm saying. It sounds like you got everything figured out though lol

After reading through some of the comments, I've changed my opinion a bit. It's less of being annoyed with Hassel's schtick and more annoyed that there really isn't any banter happening, it's just him making fun of ISU and ISU fans. I'd be totally fine with that if CW or MVW would fire back but it always seem like they hold it in.

I listened a bit and imo from what I heard CW gave too much credit to Iowa (did the same in the post-game pod saying he didn't think it was a great game from Iowa or something) and made it seem like ISU was the one who played outside of their norm, i.e. saying he didn't see Lipsey hitting 3 three pointers.

Lipsey hit one the prior game and was 39% 3PT a season ago and has gotten stronger each game this year. Why would him going 3/7 be a surprise, especially with Gilbert struggling and him actually needing to shoot more?

Yeah Lipsey played like he played all last year. I wasn't shocked at all when he hit those, I was more happy that he finally looked comfortable. After an injury, especially upper body, it's going to take a bit to get back to where you were. But people were acting like he was chopped liver out there and his threes were lucky or something.

And of course Dembele going perfect from the field, 3-3 from deep and tying his career high points was looked at as normal. I mean cmon you had their managers jumping up and down and hugging one another when he hit his third wide open three of the game. I give credit to Ladji for playing his best game of his career so far.

I’m under the impression that Hassel is very mentally and emotionally fragile, and both of them know and recognize this so they just choose to take it, much like you would from a little brother

I don't listen to the show, but I'm aware that CW is not going to dog on iowa... he has a soft spot for them. The rest of us have a pure hatred for the Hoks.

I mean it makes sense. Its not really a ISU podcast, however Hassell dogs on ISU more than CW dogs on Iowa.

Yeah I do think they consciously make the effort to not fire back. It's also easier to do so when you're in the other two's position (on top). They can sit there and listen to Hassel become unhinged and go on one of his rants due to Iowa State getting all of the attention. Hassel is currently seeing Iowa State succeed in ways they never have and getting national attention and respect whereas Iowa has become stagnant.

Iowa state and their fans live rent free in Hassel's head and its absolutely hilarious. But also, I would agree with this. While they will never admit it, I think UI's talking heads are somewhat envious of where ISU athletics is as a whole right now. Stagnant mens basketball program, and potentially a regressing FB program, and now that their version of Jesus is playing in the WNBA, their womens program isnt getting as much national attention.

This is just my take on this

I would say hassel also lives rent free in many cyclones’ heads due to the amount of posts of people complaining he’s too mean to us

I have never, nor will I ever, listen to 2GNC. I have no desire - no thank you. In fact, I don't listen to anything on IE but I never miss CW/BB twice a week.
