I don't agree with a lot of this. If anything, Hassel has been a huge asset for CW. But I do agree that while Hassel tries to act like he's trolling to get a rise out of ISU fans, he deep down believes what he's saying. He's a classic tavern hok raised by a tavern hok. They have Hayden Fry syndrome. It's a massive superiority complex that is riding the arrogance of Hayden from almost 40 years ago. He truly thinks he's a better person because he's an Iowa fan. It'sthe worst brand of Iowa fan.

Worse is the fact that CW is such a eunuch on Cy-Hawk. I’m guessing it’s a combination of his formative years being under the influence of Hayden Fry syndrome, and choosing to be a shill to climb the KXNO ladder

You’re listening to a KXNO show and don’t even know it. Podcasts are going to be ruined soon enough. Just wait until your podcast app implements the YouTube ad set up. No more just 15 seconding through the ads.
I know what is . Hassel at least has decent talking points. The side shows are what they are. I send my kids outside when they feel the need to make noise.

It makes me laugh that Hawk fans are complaining about ISU getting a friendly whistle. We couldn’t touch their guys without getting called for a foul. Just because they are weak doesn’t mean it’s a foul.

They called it off Iowa State and Iowa's ball. Nothing to overturn it. The ball did hit the line.

Shouldn't inadvertent whistle go to the possession arrow?

I thought the ball hit the line on the first bounce and to me it was pretty clearly off of Iowa. But I may be biased.

I think it may have hit Gilbert last, but it was definitely a loose ball foul on Iowa.
Definitely a foul, but it wasn't called. I really thought it was off Iowa, but didn't go OB. Now I need to go back and rewatch!

I'm not sure about the inadvertent whistle-possession rule. Help from a CF resident ref?

I believe that on review, they learned the ball never went out of bounds. They can't call a foul, so inadvertent whistle, ball back to Iowa.

Yes, but it wasn’t an inadvertent whistle. That only happens if the ref blows the whistle and no call was made. He made a call. You can’t change a call to an inadvertent whistle on review.

The funny thing is, the lead referee (out of frame in the bottom of the screen) is the one who made out of bounds call. He messed up.

In my opinion the ball is out here. The official closest can't see it which is why the other official calls it out. 20241214_172322.jpg

Watching replay I do think it was right to uphold the call if originally called off Gilbert. It was very close and very hard to tell definitively on the reply.

Not sure if it went out of bounds or not but it was clearly a hack across the arm by Harding. That is the only clear thing about the play to me.

I agree, but that was an impossible angle for any of the officials to make the call against Harding.

I love what CW has built here, but hassel's act is awful. I don't get it. Talk to people who knew Hassel growing up, and he is just an adult version. He truly hates Iowa State and spends copius amounts of energy floating outright hatred, disingenuous flattery of Iowa State, and is basically condescending to anything ISU. His dad is on the act. CW would be better to distance himself, over the long haul. CW's personal brand, in the long haul, will not be helped by this association.
Iowa Everywhere is now the most consumed sports platform in Iowa...and a Cyclone runs it...yet you guys STILL think something is slanted against you.

At some point, many of you in this fanbase need to figure out why you have such an inferiority complex.

You are misinterpreting what I'm saying. It is not slanted against us. I know it is highly viewed and watched. I could care less to ever listen to hassle. I do not find him funny or informative as it relates to Iowa State.

Please continue to make up stuff that I have not said.

Fair enough...not really calling you out personally, more a generalization of many in this thread.

There’s just a certain type of person that finds this kind of stuff funny. I am not one of them. I don’t drink beer at any establishment with “draught house” in the name. I don’t watch prime time tv shows on network tv stations, I don’t live in Altoona and say “I live in Des Moines” when asked, I don’t like Cyclone Larry, I don’t wear work boots and jeans to my white collar/non manual-labor job, I don’t have a cowboy hat that I wear one time per year for the state fair…you know the guy.
I 100% know the type of guy you’re talking about but he’s not turning off Joe Rogan or Barstool. This guy doesn’t listen to 2 guys named Chris. I think 2GNC is amazing and I’m definitely not this guy

I listen too, but I don’t think it’s funny at all.
