Surprising to see ISU with the fourth best defense in the conference. I’ll take it though if their offense keeps this up.
Keep them both in the top 15ish and historical trends are good for the tourney.
One thing I will say in regards to turning into a top 3 offensive KenPom team...GREAT for recruiting! Recruits want to be sold on a fun brand of basketball and scoring points. We likely need to replace two elite guards this offseason. Make a deep deep run in the tournament and finish as a highly ranked offensive team will help a lot.
Gilbert and Jones are going to be significant departures. No way around that point. They're probably the two best SGs we've had at the same time since maybe Naz and Matt Thomas as seniors?
I think Heise and Nojus are going to be ready to assume much larger roles next year to replace them, though, and TJ has a touted SG recruit in Jamarion Batemon who might be ready for minutes early.
I would imagine an old dude combo guard or SG is on the shopping list for this spring. They came close with the Florida St. guy who ended up going to Gonzaga, but I'm sure other opportunities will exist.
I was pondering last night if it would be better for ISU if Dayton or Marquette won - and I decided Dayton would be best, as Marquette is very likely to be a Quad 1a win, and Dayton winning that (and being really good generally) could bump them up to solidly Quad 1, and maybe 1a if they keep it up.

I agree. I think quantity of Q1 wins will be more critical.
Going into conference play Dayton will have wins over Marquette and UConn. Two losses by slim margin against NC and us on neutral floor. They will also have chance to pick up another win against Cincinnati next week. They should be favored in nearly every conference game.
I had wondered the same thing, and I think your conclusion of UD winning is correct. Marquette will have more opportunities in BE to maintain or improve its profile, Dayton won't get quite as many (or as high-ranked overall) in A-10.
I agree that Heise and Nojus will be fine replacing our 2 seniors. Obviously not the same production, but very good. Hopefully freshmen can provide solid backup minutes.
I think the major need will be a PG to backup Lipsey. The ability of Gilbert and Jones to handle the ball is a huge asset.

It does not look like he was much of a PG at UNI on Torvik, though. The site lists him as a "Wing G" while a Panther. His career ATR is 10.1 A and 14.9 TO per 100 (or a ratio of 0.68... mediocre).
Not a fair comparison, but Lipsey is a career 27.9/20.7 (1.35) and Gilbert 29.4/23.0 (1.28). Lipsey has the ratio of a PG and Gilbert has a ratio of a combo guard. Heise comes off as a SG or wing.
Not sure about how Nojus would work in that role. Obviously this is a small sample size and a strange situation, but Cade has usually played PG when they're out there late in the game.
Had the ball in his hands some for certain sets but definitely not a point guard. True wing.
AJ Green and Bowen Born were the ball handlers on the teams he was on.
Dayton is highly likely going dancing so it'll end up being a very good quad 1 win for us. Marquette is definitely going to finish the season as a quad 1 team as well. We good.
Thank you. So you wouldn't imagine he could slide into a Gilbert-like role as the ballhandler who plays PG when Tamin is on the bench and allows Tamin to play off the ball in bursts?
He's never shown that he could do that and I don't think now is the time to start experimenting with it.

I think Iowa will probably stay under 75. They can shoot the ball, and the Big Ten is pretty weak this year.
