***OFFICIAL CFP Rankings Show Watch Thread***

It’s kinda like WDM valley losing to North and Lincoln and crying because they didn’t make the playoffs.

Just read "BYU got jobbed more than any other college football team in 2024." Article from Trojans Wire.
Surprising that a B1G school's writers have an idea for the Big 12 to improve their CFP chances.

Their idea is for the Big 12 to play 8 games, then seed the top 4 teams into a playoff. Meanwhile, the 9th games for all other Big 12 teams would be reseeded (5 v. 6, 7 v. 8, etc.) That way, your top teams get a chance for a meaningful win late in the season. This year, BYU ended with Houston and Colorado ended against Okie State. Those games did nothing to improve the resume of BYU or the Buffs. Something to consider, I think.
I’m not so sure about that. That would give 3 of our top 4 teams at least one loss at the end of the season.

And some years a loss to the 3rd or 4th-place B12 team won’t be considered a good loss. This year we just happened to have 4 top teams.

I am already so tired of the whining from talking heads, Alabama and ole miss fans. Would throw South Carolina in there also.

Everyone needs to remember that the sec and big ten caused all this ****. Mega conferences don’t work and Indiana and smu are great examples of this . When you don’t play 5-6 of the top teams in your league and use tie breakers it’s not good.
Isu even benefited by not having to play the top 3 teams.

What did everyone think was going to happen?

Anyone think the 12 team playoff would have been really good with the conferences the way they were?

I really do think 16 is the magic number though.

Someone mentioned it earlier. Them adding OUT cost the SEC at least one additional spot this year.

Had conferences stayed the same, Texas likely would have earned the B12/ASU spot this year, opening up a slot for an SEC team. And OU is the team that delivered the nail in the coffin to Bama.

What's funny about Saban and Bama AD whining about their noncon, for a looooooooooong time they wouldn't even play home and homes.
They would play so many "neutral" sites where it was a heavy Bama crowd.

08 Clemson (Atlanta)
12 Michigan (Dallas)
13 VT (Atlanta)
14 WV (Atlanta)
15 Wisconsin (Dallas)
16 USC (Dallas)
17 FSU (Atlanta)
18 Louisville (Orlando)
19 Duke (Atlanta)
21 Miami (Atlanta)

Couple that with their 3 Mercer type schools always being in Tuscaloosa.

So for the last 15 years they usually have 4 true away games, 1 "neutral" and 7 home.

I have no doubt that their fans are whining but where is this happening? Social media? Or do you live down south?

It's pretty easy to avoid seeing anything if it's not searched out.

It must be my Facebook, X, and TikTok algorithms but it’s all coming from significant talking heads, just like Saban comments today about if ole miss played in the big 12 etc.
not sure why they keep going after the big12. It’s a one bid league and the acc is the ones taking the extra team..
I prob need to stay away from social media….lol

One thing is for sure I am 100% going for all the underdogs and non bigten/ sec schools minus indiana

Rooting for;
Asu
Boise
Smu
Clemson
Indiana

Notre dame
Then everyone else can suck it

what is weird to me is SMU in CFP over BYU.
same record, big 12 is a tougher conference, and BYU beat them head to head- on the road-which is supposed to be a major factor.

i know SMU has a great offense, but BYU held them to 15 points.

I agree but I don’t think the committee and America thinks the b12 is better than the acc

America will need to tune into the Peach Bowl! I think Arizona State will beat the winner of the Clemson @ Texas game. Hope so. That would be a huge statement in favor of Big XII football.

With apologies to Queen:

Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me!"

Let's Go State!

They didn't want any team to have home field I guess.
Georgia didn't get Atlanta either

Big Ten - Rose
SEC - Sugar

The only reason ASU (Big 12) didn't get Fiesta was because Boise ended up #3 -- something nobody had on their bingo card in August.

Yes, nobody talked about BYU having a chance on the talk shows and not sure why not. Could have had BYU ahead of 3 loss SEC teams or put SMU behind BYU. Maybe two factors in defense of the committee: SMU has their losses to top 25 teams including in OT. BYU has one top 25 loss. 2nd, once Jennings came in for SMU, they took off. And he didn't start in the BYU game.

Yeah I can’t believe this is not talked about more.

I can, I doubt the injury moves the betting line at all. Beck stunk this year and his backup played better in the championship game.

The question will be can he do that for a full game when the other team knows he's playing going in.

The secret is that margin of victory is involved. They're calling it "game control" to throw people off the scent.

SMU had 7 wins by 21+ (never mind the opponents).
BYU had 3.

It's part of why the Big 12 as a whole was pushed down -- too many one-score games, not enough blowouts.

I mean I could also say...

Nobody was talking betting lines last year. It was as simple as one of your best players at the most important positions is out.

Beck stunk? Don't have to exaggerate. His stats were down from last year but still pretty damn good and was one of the best players at the most important position for a #2 team in the country.

His backup played better for just one half. Talk about super small sample size to draw any meaningful conclusions.
