Figured I'd start a thread because I can't be the only one who has a kid asking for a VR headset this year. I'm all for it because they seem cool, I looked at them a couple years ago somewhat seriously, but I don't know what the +/- of each headset is now. We have a PS5 so PSVR is an option.

Do you have or will have a gaming PC that can run VR games? If yes, then Quest 3 or Quest 3s for sure.

If no but you do have a PS5 I think I'd lean towards PSVR2. Standalone Quest games are fun for a while, but a lot of them are essentially mobile games. Although I've only used a Quest 2, so maybe Quest 3 games are better.

The Quest 3 is probably the best hardware, it definitely has the best lenses, but without a PC you're not getting the full monty IMO.

No, I was thinking most of them are self contained now, that's why I was looking again.

We really love our Oculus Quest. We got it a couple years back.

If you have a PS5 you can consider the PSVR. They released an adapter that lets you use it on PC too.
