What’s wrong with the offense?

We just aren't a top 10 team. We just aren't. That's ok. I think we're a top 25 team though. Offensive line stinks and we get picked apart in the passing game while dropping 8 guys into coverage. Every game left on the schedule is a toss up IMO. I don't think we're a playoff caliber team, but it would be cool to get 10 wins this year.
Honestly not sure who is a top 10 team in the classic way we think of it. Outside of about 3-4 teams everyone has warts and bad losses (Notre Dame, Tennessee, Bama, etc.) or survived by the skin of their teeth against mediocre/bad teams (Miami and BYU)

Been a lot of comments about the offensive play calling. Three critical play calls that concerned me. 1. 4th and 2 and we try a difficult pass in the flat instead going stacked I or qb sneak or doing something with options. 2. After the false start on the goal line. We have 3rd and goal with about 7 to go. A QB keeper to the outside with minimal blocking? 3. Two point conversion...what was that mess of a call? All three critical moments and those hurt.
Yes...I have no idea what was going on there. Seems like everyone lost their mind.

True, but we haven't really beaten anybody either. Notre Dame does have a really bad loss, but has three wins over ranked teams (were ranked at the time) including @ aTm at night. We just aren't good enough up front and are down to our 9th string linebackers. It is what it is. We're still a good team. Oh, and we're going to the Final Four in basketball in March so we have that going for us at least.

Sorry wasn’t trying to say we are a top 10 team because we aren’t. But I do think we are top 20. Notre Dame’s Navy win is questionable and if Rice keeps this up then that win is meh at best. At A&M is legit, but could also be hurt with South Carolina pulls this off. And I don’t care what you do the rest of the year. Losing at home to Northern Illinois is absolutely awful.

True about NIU. And, yes, Navy is not good. Louisville is hammering Clemson @ Clemson though. I don't think we would beat Notre Dame. Their QB is playing a lot better and they would probably run the ball all over our 3 man front prevent defense.

This is what happens when you use your bye week to get healthy (which was needed). Those guys don’t really practice because they wear non contact jerseys. Expect next week to be much better.

Maybe we could beat Notre Dame? Not saying I think that we would, but this season is nothing but a bunch of good teams with flaws that can lose to a lot of teams on any day. It’s why I am a results only guy. Notre Dame should have been able to pubs that Northern Illinois team with their second stringers…they didn’t. The games have to matter even though I know that’s not how this works. I would rate us around 15 or 16 right now still and we shall see what happens next week against KU.

Correct. Everyone just remembers the game winner but we have a had a lot of missed that didn’t bite us. No one talks about it.
Dont disagree but trying the kid on a 50 yarder, in the rain, into the wind... insanity. Should have punted.

On 3rd down, for that matter, instead of that insane Rocco run.

That whole drive end was mind bottling.

I haven't listened to the press conference yet, but on the quick hit with Walters on twitter, Campbell was pretty open about this being on him and the coaching staff.
Oh he always says **** like that. He is covering his guys. Its good leadership and the right thing to do.

BUT

are they gonna stop being turtling the offense and trying to run 3TE that never works? If its REALLY on the staff, then CHANGE. Otherwise its just words, words, words.

He really doesn’t always say that.

Didn't read any of the other posts - didn't want my take tainted.

1. Our offense has been Cade McNamara bad basically all year. Rocco has brought our out of the depths of hell several times.
2. Stop running the ball up the middle there hasn't been anyhting there since Troy Davis.
3. Start leaking the QB to the side your throwing, it opens iup angles and if there's nothing there the QB could get 4-5 yards vs. sitting in the pocket where all the crap is and getting sacked.
4. I still love this team, but if we dont get 10 wins that will be the craps.

Yes, the NIU loss was bad, but that happens in CFB sometimes. Remember when Brock Purdy and Co. dang near lost at home to Drake? If Notre Dame plays well they beat us IMO. They run the ball really well and they can throw. More talent than us. Pretty good defense. Could we beat them, yes but they would be favored for sure.
