Which does more for the program? Long term stability, or Campbell wins natty this year and leaves for Michigan or ND.
Is this like the old "they shouldn't hit a grand slam here, that would kill their momentum" argument? How is this even a question.

Nowhere in the OP's statement does it state that we would suck post MC...many here seem to be assuming so. I very much doubt that would be the case, we might go back to average but if you've been a Cyclone fan long enough you'd be totally good with that.

I voted Matt Campbell for 10 more years, because while the national championship is on a whole different level than an Elite Eight, I think I'm scarred by the experience of having a massive level of success for a couple years under Eustachy, and then suffering through mediocrity for over a decade after he was gone.
Never let fear get in the way of feeling joy.:)

WE WILL NOT GO BACK

Anybody older than 25 knows how bad constant losing seasons are. I'd give maybe 5 years of sucking for a Natty, but anything beyond that in this environment is crippling.

^^^^ this for real.

Take your favorite example of absolute dispare. Frodo taking the ring through Mordor, USA vs Russia in Hockey, David vs Goliath, etc etc. That's what it was like with no hope of getting better. For years and years. No light at the end of the tunnel. Until Danny Mac came along. It's taken 30 years of building brick by brick to get to where we are today. Still talking of a Natty is silly. We're so far from the hopeless days, but still far from that. Let's keep building brick by brick and doing things the right way.

Nope.

Fast track it to Nattyville. Make it as illegal as possible. Don't care; I'll still watch the game on YT even after all the wins are erased.

Just because Campbell would leave would not automatically mean we go back to the basement, especially in the new Big 12. You absolutely go with the championship given how unlikely it is to happen. Think of some of the coaches that never won one: Bo Schembechler, Bill Snyder, Frank Beamer, Gary Patterson, Chris Petersen. That goes to show you how hard it is to win one, especially when you're not at a blue blood program (a bit mind boggling Bo never won one at Michigan)

Give me a natty in FB MBB or WBB any day as it has not been done here yet.

Sure, we all would. But at what cost? If our coaches do it, terrific!

If it requires a buy-in such as at Georgia, Alabama - name the blue blood where wealthy elites control the machine - nope. Values matter.

So, what values? A natty at any cost? My values differ from that. If yours don't, I'm not saying you are wrong, just different.

I don’t understand what any of this means. What buy-in requires losing values? Also what does values have to do with winning a natty?
