Our best win is a last minute FG at a bad Iowa team who did us no favors last night. We 1000% control our destiny but our resume right now just isn’t spectacular. And that’s fine with me I’m loving it!
ND loss to a Mac school at home but don’t worry, that’s still better than being undefeated!
I’m telling myself that our ranking doesn’t matter. Most likely we need to win the conference championship game to make the playoffs. They will come up with a million reasons why Iowa State doesn’t deserve an at large bid even if we only have one loss.
Alabama isn’t missing the playoffs. They may even make it with 4 losses. Eye test ******** or they are playing their best football at the end of the season. Other teams like Clemson and ND will get the same special treatment.

I think Clemson & ISU were 2 points apart in last week's voting, so it's possible some voters might consider comfortable win over UVa above a close-call vs UCF.
Tennessee seems like it's have more possibility to leap-frog ... plus we'll pick up a spot w/ Alabama losing. Safe hunch might be we'd stay at 9.

is there bias towards the SEC and Big 10? Of course there is and anyone that says otherwise is insane.
But the Big 12 is also not great. Colorado overhyped. Utah and Arizona fell off from last year. Kansas not even close to living up to expectations. Oklahoma State down.
This does not help at all to combat the media bias.

IUs SOS is worse than ISUs, but they get more credit for being undefeated than ISU because B1G. That was all I was saying.

I don’t disagree there is Big 10 bias. But voters do pay attention to the margin of victory.
We are also only going to have played one ranked team prior to b12 championship and very well could lose to kstate. It's all pretty subjective just have to keep winning.
I saw Iowa put up so many great records in the b10 west and laughed and called them a fake ID. I always said I won't be so obnoxious but I'd kill to have such a soft schedule. We finally have it, are taking advantage of it, but we may or may not be a fake ID.
Moral of the story rankings are meaningless we all knew we have to win the B12 to get in and it hasn't changed.
While this may be true, they are absolutely **** stomping the teams on their schedule. They can only play who’s in front of them, and they are shredding those teams.
Which is fine but doesn’t necessarily mean they should leapfrog 7 spots for beating Nebraska
Style points matter, even more so for non football brands like ISU or IU. Blasting a football name school like nebby is going to get more milage than squeezing by a directional florida school that was in a G5 conference a couple years ago.
Miami is getting away with their ugly wins due to the name on the jersey. We don't get that luxury.
The B10 and SEC are really top heavy with Oregon, OSU, Penn St, and then in the SEC you have Georgia, UT and Tenn, take those teams out of the equation, and those leagues are full of a lot of teams that can beat each other, much like the B12.
The ACC is good comparable to the B12, outside of Clemson and Miami, both name teams, the league is not any better. Bias and name mean a lot in the rankings and teams like ND and Alabama can get away with a lose or two, while schools like ISU and BYU do not get that advantage. Sorry thing is we should be ranking the teams on this year, not how many championships they have won in the past.

I get it, but I think what you mean is our schedule isn't that difficult. Because you still have to win the games. And wins are what make up your resume. Bill Connelly's Resume SP+ has us at 10. SOR has been the most accurate predictor of CFP rankings, and we are 6th. This is obvious, but 7-0 against a mediocre or bad schedule is better than 6-1 against a mediocre schedule or 5-2 against a tough schedule.
The Big 10 has struck gold in the playoff era by consolidating all the power at the top in Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Oregon. They added three mediocre to bad teams with name brands in USC, UCLA, and Washington. They will get 3 high seeds and one outlier like Indiana this year in most seasons. The rest of the conference will stay in line and not beat any of the top teams, whereas the SEC is much more competitive.
