UCF Post game thread

Cliche, but LOTS of tape to analyze and critique ...and no big heads as a top 10 team after this win
Yes, a lot of stuff to look at in the tape, wow…..nobody was really consistent. Pretty much everyone had done big mistakes.

1) Gotta get Brahmer, Carson Hansen, and some of the LBs healthy. The bye week right now is extremely fortuitous.

2) Rylan Barnes with another great game, 3 tackles for loss.

3) The D line has to play better, cannot be giving up housecalls like that. Our D is going multiple games without a sack, but that's the way it is with a 3 man front that heacock will not get away from.

4) Rocco was awesome, tough gritty win. Need to avoid brutal first halves like that.

Ultimately, IDGAF. Best start in school history and this is so much fun. In the hunt for the playoff still!
A. The linebackers aren’t the only ones who can use a bye week. John and Eric didn’t think that Big Citrus was going to play, and pretty sure that JR is dinged up too.

B. One of the players this week made a revealing comment that they aren’t actually trying to rush the passer as often as fans think they are.

Big concern with how an athletic defensive line was able to give us trouble. Rocco obviously was getting happy feet because of lack of time. Glad we didn’t get him killed.
Think it was that coupled with a lot of man to man in the defensive backfield that took things away from what we had schemed, hence the runs by Rocco. Campbell mentioned this in the post game & it makes sense as the DBs won't be seeing the QB break the pocket until it's too late. Don't think other teams have done this. However, when they do we need to win a couple times deep, which we had tonight but were over thrown.

Wondered if it might be something like that.

He went out for a bit, came back in a little, maybe to test how it was going, and decided to shut it down.

A bye week is fortuitous here.
Was Sama III nicked too? Didn't see him much, if at all, in the 4th quarter.

Hit those and the running game opens up.

I thought the refs really let UCF get away with a lot of late hits out of bounds. Multiple times they threw our guy to the ground or tackled him well past the out of bounds line and got away with it. Rocco's feet was the difference tonight, all the man that they were playing allowed for him to run if he got pressure.

Just a gut check win, now lets go into the bye week and get healthy.

Gave up a pick 6 (and basically a second one), a 80 yard TD run, and a 67 yard TD run. Allowed a runner to gain 196 yards rushing AND a QB to rush for 154 yards.

And yet ISU still won. Amazing
Teams who have special seasons have things like this happen

Look at TCU year they went to the playoffs

My brain is still processing this. In my 20+ years of following ISU football, this is the sort of game that ISU loses almost every time.

Its boggling when you start thinking about all the things that individually can be back breakers you look back on for years. Those two big runs. The two pick sixes. The missed open TDs. Not picking up the ball after that goal line fumble. Missing the PAT on the tying TD

Not to mention the injury situation and losing the RB that was doing the most for us early in the game.

A lot of teams would have quit after all that adversity. One of those 'this isn't our night' things.
