***ISU WNBA Thread***

Getting a year or two in the WNBA would be good experience for a coaching career IMHO. Get to play under some pro coaches (different styles, different systems, etc) maybe a couple of coaches the way the league plays musical chairs with their rosters.
Question for you since I believe you follow the WNBA like me, what teams coach do you feel would be a good one for her to be with to learn? I am not impressed with many of the coaches as I feel they are just managers of people (which they don't always do well) as their teams don't show much discipline or real play running info from the staff. Many are just 5 players doing their thing out there trying to get more playing time by scoring and not real team players.

I am a pretty casual fan so wouldn't have a clue and don't follow the coaches much at all. I was just spitballing on the possible experience of seeing different coaching styles. I mostly pay attention to the Lynx and than the Aces and Fever. Guess I gravitate to the players I've seen most recently in midwestern universities and not the UConn filled rosters of some teams.

I think the unity thing you mention is true, especially once you get down past the top 4 or 5 teams. The time between the draft and first games is super short and the roster turnovers can get a bit crazy so team unity and chemistry is hard to build.

Carleton and the 1st place Lynx are at the Fever tonight, 6:30 on ION TV.

Both teams are a hot 7-1 each since the Olympic break. Fevers only loss being at Target Center. Clark is coming off of a triple double last game. I might have to tune in.

Carleton is #2 in 3pt % and the only person ahead of her is kind of ridiculous 49%.

Minn has 3 of the top 5 % 3pt shooters.

Somehow ESPN will plaster some CC whatever and it becomes the #1 WNBA look.

Who had the better game?

Bridget had 16 points including 3 of 3 from 3 down the stretch to help Minnesota pull away from the Fever 99-88.

Showed Hallibuton a number of times in the crowd cheering on Indiana.

She started slow but finished on fire and played some good defense.

Seems like Lynx are real contenders.

Where is Becky Hammen( ?) coaching? The woman who learned under Greg Popavitch. That is the answer.

When I cheered for the Lynx (and Brittany Carlson) the Iowa fans in attendance called me a ‘hater’ . Apparently because I was not cheering for Clark in the only game I have ever seen her play.

She coaches the Las Vegas Aces, two-time defending WNBA Champs. Ashley Joens had two or three ten-day contracts with the Aces last year and she had nothing but great things to say about the team - she went to the White House with them!

I know I'll be pulling for Carleton and the Lynx - they aren't getting much press when Collier should probably win MVP - it's probably a good thing to fly under the radar!

I am all good with the Lynx not being the center of attention.

Quiet night for Carleton but Lynx rolled over Chicago for another win.
