Wasn't smart for Wisdom to do that while still in the batters box. Unless Wisdom said something to the Ump, felt the ejection was uncalled for. Players throw bats, helmets in frustration all the time.

The bat throw did him in. Two handed spike on a called 3rd strike.

Thought 2025 could potentially be pushing it but he’s definitely tracking to force his way there
2025 might be a push. But there seem to be more instances of college hitters making the jump in less than 2 seasons.

If he as a good next month at next level, that could easily make mid-season 2025 more likely.

I guess he went down looking on a strike that painted the corner (and was correctly called a strike) rather than swinging for the fences on a pitch outside the zone is the 1 positive? So ready to be done with this bum eventually. My guess he was probably more frustrated with himself than the actual strike call
He did throw up his arms right before throwing the helmet so the ump probably took that as showing him up.

I'm ready for next season when we finally cut some of this dead weight. Counsell tries to give Paredes a well-deserved day off and his replacement only lasts 3 innings.

Well, he could have played Vasquez at 3B.

Merryweather has been a bit of a mess since coming off IL a month ago. Unless Counsell has confidence to elevate Roberts, maybe it's time for Cubs to send Merryweather down & bring up Wicks to eat mid-game outs as 2-3 inning guy.

So was it a FUBO or Marquis problem. FUBO dropped signal with Cubs up 5-2. Got it back with score 11-2. Woops.

I can stop ******** about going 0-6 with runners on 3rd.

Smyly is likely part trying to slip under tax this year and part avoiding the $2.5 mil buyout of mutual option for next year

I remember last year making fun of the Angels because they waived a ton of guys around this time. Only difference between us and them is they did it all on one day.

I get you’re looking for more reasons to **** on the front office but come on. Even for you this is a stretch.

We’ve released Neris (who everyone wanted gone anyway) to avoid the option and put Smyly on waivers to likely try and avoid his buyout.

The Angels put a quarter of their roster on waivers with one of their top starters, three relievers and two starting outfielders.

Completely different things.

The $2.5 mil buyout on the option is going to be the thing some teams may pass on claiming Smyly because it's more than just picking up the remainder of his salary this season, but just need 1 team willing to do it that wants to bolster their bullpen. Merryweather has not been good and would probably go unclaimed if put on waivers. I don't see anyone claiming Wisdom if they put him out there too. The only other player on the roster that it would make sense to try is Tauchman as he really has not played much lately with the emergence of PCA and they need to clear a path for giving Caissie some AB in September. He has some value as a bench OF that plays good defense would think there is a good chance someone would claim him.
