***2024 Olympics Thread***

They’re still freakin good.

Yeah we have the best talent, it’s still really hard to win a gold medal with the level of basketball competition around the world.

How many championships do Texas or Kentucky have the last 10 years despite collecting the best football and basketball talent each year?

A lot of people (specifically on this site who dislike pro basketball) have no idea the nba MVP is MOST OFTEN a foreign player now.

MVP voting this year:
#1 Serbia
#2 Canada
#3 Slovenia (not even in Olympics)
#4 Greece

That's so cool they have a marathon for "regular people" in Paris. I might try to "earn points" to be in the draw if they do the same for LA if I'm still living in the middle of it anyway unless I fall apart in the next 4 years.

If you're able to ignore the 'legacy' noise, it is still fun to watch LeBron when he decides to impose his will. His MVP days are done in the NBA, but in short stretches he is still the most dominant player on Earth. It's pretty clear this was his team, and it was nice to be able to just appreciate his greatness while he's still able to. Not sure how much longer he'll want to do it.

Someone's not really a basketball fan if they didn't notice how he defended reigning MVP Jokic most of that second half when they turned it around. Insane for someone nearly 40. Only player I've ever seen who has shut down a lightning fast MVP point guard and and MVP center.

Curry too, it seems crazy Curry hasn't already had a lot of Olympic impact. It was great for him.

I know he didn't play as much as we all would have wanted him to, or as much as he would have liked, but I love that Tyrese is a part of this team. And it looked like he has an absolute blast with the whole experience as well. I know there was a story about him going to one of the table tennis matches to cheer on the US. Can't ask for a better representative of our country.
His medal is just as gold as the rest
