House of the Dragon

Definitely a season to lay out the chess pieces. I am always a fan of the story and set up in shows like this, however, it really hurts when they take so long between seasons.

Fully understand how expensive it is to create a season of this show, so I would rather keep the quality. But the fact we aren’t getting Season 3 until at the earliest spring of 2026 it seems, just sucks.
And everyone will forget most of what happened this season by that point. There needed to be an exclamation point in the end of this season. Too much table setting the last half.

It’s the same way with Stranger Things where we are finally getting the series finale in 2025. But that will be 9 years to do 5 seasons, which is insane. I am fully understanding things happen like strikes, other commitments from the actors, etc. but damn.

Yep! And season 4 was one of the best for that series. Just killed all momentum taking so long.

Nice, S1 culminated in everyone gearing up for war. And S2 culminated in everyone gearing up for war.

I had the same thought about it potentially being a trap, but I think she was being genuine.
I agree, and think it all ties in with Aegon fleeing Kings Landing with Larys. I have no idea what the long play is for Aegon, aside from laying low for awhile (maybe a long while) in hopes that Aemond and Rhaenyra end up destroying each other and each others armies/dragons. Then coming back to hopefully rule over the ruins.

That did not feel like a season finale
I disagree. A lot of times it's the episode before the finale where **** pops off. The only part I felt was completely out of place was the mud wrestling. Just completely missed the tone of the episode. The story is just isn't that compelling as of now. It felt like it took until the last 30 minutes of the finale to remember that this is supposed to be an epic/drama.

That said, I'm not nearly as disappointed as everyone else seems to be. I thought it was a good episode. Everyone is just so bloodthirsty (literally/figuratively) when it comes to GoT/HotD. I'm glad I watched GoT before the most intense twitter/reddit era. Don't fool yourself, if we were watching season 4 of GoT in this era of social media, we'd still have a bunch of morons saying "bad writing" after every episode.

The final episode of season 4 had quite a bit happen, I’m not sure why you’re using that season?

Because it's regarded as one of, if not, the best season of GoT. It was a comment on online reaction more than the episodes themselves. It's all so entitled and forced.

And how did that finale compare to last night?

Daemon chose to back Rhaenyra after a season of contemplating if he should seize power on his own.
Was that storyline in the book? Because that whole us he loyal or not seemed shoehorned in. He only had the Riverland army because they swore an oath to Viserys who named Rhaenyra as his successor. They weren’t loyal to Daemon. In fact, they made it clear they hate Daemon. If he tries to take the throne himself wouldn’t the Riverlands just fight for Rhaenyra rather than Daemon.
