This. Which is why I wondered what rules they have to even be out of the country. You can’t get in or out. It’s like a horror movie.

I'm pretty sure they have security guards that monitor the movements of anyone who lives outside of North Korea. I know they have some restaurants in other parts of the world, as some other businesses (like logging in Russia). In those instances, I think there are security guards whose only responsibility is to make sure that the people 1) don't run away, and 2) go from their living space to their work and back.

The other thing that they do, is that if someone defects, they then imprison your family. I think they do this for their diplomats. The diplomat lives in the country they are working in, but the rest of the family stays in North Korea.

North Koreans have been indoctrinated since birth that the Kim Jongs are Gods. With very little Western outside influence to show otherwise. They don’t know any different.

I watch a documentary on some North Korean defectors who served in the Military and they were showing them the American Military and how quickly we would destroy their whole country. They were absolutely shocked and told that a war with America would be a quick and easy war for them. They all believed it. IT was crazy. The look on their faces when shown some of our Navy ships and aircraft carriers. Then the Ospry the Marines use. One thing they do really well in North Korea is make them think they have it made and they are the best country.

Halliburton was always going to be the last guy off the bench on this team. If the U.S. is struggling shooting, then he’s a valuable piece off the bench for a few minutes. And he’s a great teammate. But he’s a defensive liability and Curry, Jrue, Derrick White, even LeBron can probably operate this offense better than Hali at the point.

Now Embiid. That guy can gtfo. No idea why he’s getting minutes (granted we’ll probably need him if we play France due to their length)

I'm wondering if part of it is also with his injury. He was in rough shape during the playoffs this year and I can't imagine he's fully healed up.

I also have to imagine part of him making the roster was an eye to the future. USA basketball has to know alot of these guys are on their way out, and they need some younger guys to have experience in the program. So he's a younger guy, with a great attitude that's not going to ***** about how much he's playing, which is a great reason to give one of the last roster spots.

I think the only annoyance is maybe White getting minutes over him. That's the one that's a bit odd. But at the end of the day he's on a team with a bunch of dudes he grew up idolizing, in Paris, competition for a gold medal. I'm willing to bet he's not too worried about his playing time.

Haliburton has always been a liability on defense, even at Iowa State.

I'm a volleyball nerd so sorry:

Really great match for USA mens beach volleyball. Budinger fun to watch and he controlled the net. Never close against a French team the US has apparently never beat (per the announcers).

On the womens side, also excited about Hughes and Cheng, they looked great in match 1.

Not sold on Kloth and Nuss. Interesting to watch, but they seem limited by Kloth's immobility, and the height of Nuss (nothing new for her so I'm sure she will prove me wrong).

Budinger has lived the athletics life I dream of.

Womens indoor team up in 10 minutes, not a great start to my work today.... Yikes.

Not sure if anyone watched the France X USA women’s rugby match, but that one gal for France was so fast. Scored like 4 time for them.

Yes, she was a problem. The one where she reversed course and looped around the entire defense was incredible. I know nothing about Rubgy, but I was screaming at the defensive end like it was football.

White D’s up and doesn’t need the ball at all. Different players that a coach has to figure out what works for flow. If the US comes out really flat in a game or if the legs aren’t there and the defense is crap and we need to just out-score someone I bet Tyrese will get some good minutes.

Big bummer for USA women's volleyball to win sets 3 and 4 but come up short in set 5.

There was definitely an adjustment in the middle of the match to sub in the younger power hitters for the seasoned control players. It will be interesting to see the strategy from Karch to start the next match.
