Clemson, FSU and the ACC, all three, have not had any “road” wins in their respective court cases. The longer this goes without one of those three winning on the road, I don’t see a resolution anytime soon.

Josh Pate said in todays podcast his Big 10 source told him they will not be taking Florida State, Notre Dame or Clemson.

That being said, Pate does not believe the Big 10 or SEC will let the big fish die if Lake ACC dries up.

Almost like the big 12s best chance at getting them if the acc stays intact.

This is how I interpreted McMurphy’s article yesterday.

Not to get off topic but did you keep listening when he started talking about SEC media days?

Roughly paraphrasing but he said the Texas fatigue had already set in by day 2 and they hadn’t even arrived yet. Basically every schools coach, player, and any interview done there were questions about Texas. Also they had mechanical longhorn? That coaches were getting on to take pictures….wtf.

In their defense, it was the first time the SEC has done anything in Dallas. I fully expected them to play up the Texas angle this year.

But I'm also laughing at them.

So hard to know what is true and what could be a planted leak. And what is true now, may not remain true if something changes in the future (e.g. UW/UO).

Whether true or not, this HAS to be what the B1G says publicly (or semi-publicly via "contacts"). Saying NO bolsters their hand for any negotiations, and it keeps them from any allegations of interference. There's no upside to them saying YES really, other than destabilizing the ACC which they don't need to do.

But let's assume for a minute that this is absolutely true and won't change. If so, that means:
  • UND is going to stay independent until the heat death of the universe
  • B1G likes UNC and UVa better if they do add 2

I still think FSU/Clemson end up in the SEC, then B1G gets a turn to take 2 of (ND, UNC, UVA, Stan?), then back to the SEC to take 2 of whatever is left and Big12 picks up the last 4 best pieces. Three 20 team conferences, and TV money will have all the big brands in 2 conferences.

Ever see an ex with someone else who looks miserable chasing her around buying her drinks while she ignores him? And think "thank goodness its him and not me".

I guess. If I was an LSU fan, who has had FAR more success and is a historic SEC team, and I saw my coach on the longhorn with a cowboy hat I wouldn’t love it. Also, does anyone in the SEC remember OU is joining? Way to make yourself an afterthought OU.

I was asking myself why Fox and ESPN would want FSU and Clemson to be in the B12. It is starting to make sense. The B12 has 12 teams in the Top 50 for average football attendance (all but KU, Arizona, Houston and Cincinnati). The ACC has only 8 teams. The B12 is a national conference while the ACC is still largely just a regional conference. If FSU and Clemson do go to the B12, I would expect the B10 will take UNC and Virginia. Then the B12 might want to take NC State and either Va Tech or Pitt or Louisville. The top remaining teams in the ACC, MWC and Pac 2 could merge to form the 4th best conference.

It’s pretty clear what’s happening: the Big 10 will take UNC and UVA, and the SEC will go “fine, FSU and Clemson can come at a discount”. The Big 12 will end up with VA Tech, NCSU, Louisville, etc and there will be 3 conferences in the highest level of college football with various compensation levels.

We don't want to be the conference to make the first move. It's bad for the sport and fans

But since those bastards in the Big 12 have forced our hand we'll take UNC and UVA.

Is this saying FSU and Clemson are the big fish and is going to the Big XII the same as dying?

I guess I'm asking, will they suddenly jump at Clemson and FSU if it looks like they're Big XII bound?

This is exactly where I see this going. The narrative will be “Mid12 couldn’t land the big dogs”. The SEC will swoop in whenever it’s convenient for them with no blood on their hands. Same for the Big 10. There will be 3 conferences but it will be a P2 and we would be considered a wealthy g5 more than a P3.

The power of FSU/Clemson being willing to go to the Big 12. The odds that they end up with more money, if not P2 invite, are greatly benefited by that option being viewed as legitimate

FSU/Clemson have to break status quo, and the P2 can sit back and let the Big 12 underwrite that.

If Notre Dame asked the Big 10 if they could join, the Big 10 would say yes before Notre Dame even finished asking the question. It would be like the scene where Kurt Warner is proposing to his girlfriend in American Underdog.

Yeah I was going to post something similar. Big 10 would 100% take Notre Dame. Clemson and FSU I understand not being takes but The Irish would absolutely be a take

Pate did say ND but it was pretty clear he meant FSU and Clemson. You’re correct, every single conference would say yes to ND as soon as they opened their mouth to ask.
