I checked out his 2023 profile at Princeton.

Jalen has a Covid year, 2020, and played in 2021, 2022, 2023. I take it he's in Ames to prepare and sharpen himself for the NFL.

Probably not intending to stick here for two. Fair assumption? If so, happy to have him for one!

If we get him for two, that be good, but he gone in one. Either way, it's good for us, and I'm glad he is here!

If he thinks two years is what he needs he will take it. I doubt it though. He's already got people's attention and Clanton seems to be legit. I'm excited for the season and especially Clanton's first full season with his players.

Doesn't work that way. Fall of 21, 22, 23 were not Covid years. He's got one to play if what you say is accurate.

Really? Then define what a Covid year means? (Serious question because I don't know.)

If he's got five years, and only played three? Isn't 2020 the equivalent of a redshirt year?

Fall of 2020 was the Covid year you played it didn't count. Dekkers played 4 games in 2020 didn't count, played 4 games in 2021 his redshirt, 2022 3rd year in college he was a redshirt freshman.

Ivy league guys got hosed. League didn't play in 2020 but league still only gave them 4 years. They can't even redshirt so they have to transfer to get their 4th year. People talk about using a Covid year but actually what their saying is the are taking their 4th year playing which is actually their 5th because they played the free year 2020.

Now Don't ask me about all the extra 6th, 7th 8th years the NCAA is granting because I don't even try to understand that crap.

To answer the base question?

Travis is essentially a redshirt senior this Fall.

If he wants to use the sixth year in ‘25, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Considering all that I’ve heard, however, the issue isn’t likely to arise. This year at ISU is intended to essentially be “finishing school” of sorts before the NFL draft.

All the usual disclaimers (I.e., sh*t happens) apply.

I don’t think this is right. The best way to calculate the Covid eligibility is pretend 2020 never happened. He’s played 3 years (21, 22, 23), and has 2 more to play 1.

Ok, now it's clear like mud.

Regardless of the exact eligibility, I agree that he will only be here the one year.
