YepIt looks like this is the reminent of an old train bridge. To the right, are those the other towers just toppled over and rusing away?
For anyone that takes the drive from the Battle of the Little Bighorn memorial to Billings, take a half hour to swing by Pompey's Pillar. It's a small sandstone butte along the Yellowstone River where William Clark's company stopped on the return trip to survey the land. He carved his name and the date in the sandstone and that's the only remaining evidence of the Lewis and Clark expedition along their route.Swung by the geographic center of the U.S. Belle Fouche S.D. the actual spot is a little out of town but the marker is right in town in a nice little park. Also went to the little bighorn that trip pretty but solemn, Devils tower was cool.
There was a haunted Savannah, GA tour I wanted to take, but the timing didn't work out.My wife has a thing for paranormal stuff, so we did a ghost tour in Daytona Beach, a tour of the Villisca Ax Murder house and visited a haunted house in Key West. She has a book of places in Iowa to visit, so we're going to go through those.

There's a reef about 7 miles off the coast off Key West that charters go out to. It's a weird sensation snorkeling around this narrow reef with beautiful coral but what feels like a pure abyss in every direction.I would like to do a week or two Caribbean cruise/tour on a smaller ship - maybe 30-40 people. A sailing ship, that would harbor in different coves every night. Somewhat related, I don't know why, but I've always wanted to jump into the ocean out of sight of land just to swim for a minute or two then climb back aboard. I can't really explain it. Just something I feel like I want to do.
I swam in the middle of the Pacific off the USS Tarawa. They dropped the back and let us swim. It was a bit strange. Would have been better had we had some beer.I would like to do a week or two Caribbean cruise/tour on a smaller ship - maybe 30-40 people. I have a friend that travels to Asia quite a bit and loves Vietnam and Thailand. They want to retire there.Would like to visit Angkor Wat.
Also Vietnam, since a large part of my childhood involved watching the war unfold as Walter Cronkheit described it on the evening news.
Interesting little story about the (nearly) geographic center of the contiguous 48 and why some people regretted buying a house there.Swung by the geographic center of the U.S. Belle Fouche S.D. the actual spot is a little out of town but the marker is right in town in a nice little park. I missed the hideout and the underground town. I hope to go back sometimeDid you stop off to see the Dalton Gang Hideout in Meade?
Once set out on a road trip with the aim of stopping at every historical marker. Saw the twine, the well, the hideout, and a town called Liberal. (got a big charge out of the Liberal School, the Liberal Library, the Liberal Post Office and so on...this was probably when W Bush was Prez).
I climbed a section of the Great Wall in 2018 that overlooked North Korea. I could see farmers working in their fields. It was fascinating to think about what their lives are like.I want to go to North Korea and Pripyat Ukraine.
I think I have a good idea. No thanks.I climbed a section of the Great Wall in 2018 that overlooked North Korea. I could see farmers working in their fields. It was fascinating to think about what their lives are like.
