Settlement reached with the Department of Justice. Athletes who were forced to sit out since the 2019-20 season will get an extra year of eligibility.

In theory shouldn't impact as many as it would have pre 2020 since so many exceptions have been made. Will still create yet another headache to keep track of eligibility along with the Covid Year.

Tre King would look pretty nice on our roster for '24-'25;)

College football reporters are basically useless so I haven't seen this discussed, but in this new world where athletic departments (or whatever remains of collectives, when the dust settles) are signing athletes to deals, wouldn't athletes be giving up their right to transfer for the length of that contract? Wouldn't that limit some freedom of movement, or at least force the athlete to give up NIL rights if they leave?

That said, we all know that contracts in college athletics aren't worth the paper they're printed on and have only traditionally been enforced in one direction, and I don't expect that will change in this new world.

With another extra year for this and a COVID year, are we going to see the first 8 year athlete?:jimlad:

Look at the bright side Cyclone fans. Since there are no rules anymore, Jaime can accrue significant salary savings by eliminating his compliance staff.

In addition, the NCAA Rules Manual just went from 3 inches thick to one page (front and back)!

How long before schools start recruiting low end NBA players? The NIL money would be better than the league minimums. There’s no way the NCAA can restrict these players given today’s legal environment.

Recruit pro players playing in foreign leagues too.
