Interesting. Do you know if Al is out of the game completely now?
His brick and mortar's are closed. He still has the food truck (trailer). Though he posted a couple weeks ago he was supposed to be at some festival but had to cancel because he couldn't get his trailer out of the mud.

I heard he went back to a full-time restaurant job somewhere in DSM but seems like he hasn't totally given up the dream of the BBQ business.

Is it? It's definitely not bad, by any stretch, but is it head and shoulders better than other options out there? You can definitely get a good burger at 5 guys, but in my opinion, it doesn't separate itself much.
My thoughts exactly. Five Guys food is great; outstanding even. I can feed my family of 4 at Culver's for about $42 and the kids meals include ice cream. It's $70 to feed the same family at 5G and that doesn't include dessert for the kids.

Is Five Guys awesome? Yes. Is it 167% more awesome than Culver's? Not for us. But to each their own. No shade toward anyone who loves the place. It just doesn't justify the expense for us.

Culver's = puuuuukkkkkkeeee
Interesting. Any particular reason for that opinion? Not discounting it, but I don't consider them to be drastically different than any smashburger style product, so it's interesting that you'd single them out for such a visceral reaction.

I'm not a Smashburger fan either. I just didn't like the Culver's burger.

Sorry I got Smashburger and Zombie burger mixed up. Never been to Smashburger
I'm not talking about the restaurant Smashburger. I'm talking about the style of cooking a hamburger, called a smashburger. 5 Guys, Steak and Shake, Freddy's, Culver's, Shake Shack, and Smashburger, as well as others all use that style.

The Culver's burger I had was dry and had a taste I didn't like, I don't care what the style in which they cooked it was, it tasted like crap.

Culver’s is the second best fast food chain behind Chick-fil-a. The burgers are excellent, the chili is outstanding, and the tenderloins are the best you’re going to get from a chain restaurant. Then add in the custard and it’s just a win all around.
Culvers is pretty good for fast food. But I don't like their burgers at all, won't order them - being fried in butter just makes them taste bad to me. I get that I am in the minority on that.

But their chix sammiches are better than Chik-fil-A imho.

Chikfila is garbage. Raising Caines is 1000x better.
