ISU-NU Post-game thread.

Applied the hockey system of +/- points where the only things that is important is how your team does when you are in the game. Here's the breakdown.

Garrett -5
Thompson +2
Brackins -9
Petersen -12
Haluska -12
Staiger -10
Hamilton -3
Vanderbeken +1
Boozer -5
Buckley -15
Lee -4
Mann -2
Eikmeier -5

Further refined these numbers by only including players with 10+ minutes in the game with an adjustment for the number of minutes played. The final number is an indication of how bad we would have lost the game if that player had been in the game for the full 40 minutes. The list is from today's worst player to today's best player.

Buckley -40.0
Haluska -20.0
Petersen -19.2
Hamilton -12.0
Staiger -11.1
Brackins -10.0
Garrett -6.4

Based on these stats from the last two games, it seems like we do a whole lot better when we get our forwards/centers into the games. Why Hamilton barely played the first half and Vanderbeken didn't play the second half is hard to understand. It also indicates that we suffer with Petersen and/or Haluska in the game.

Unless you're footing the bill, I highly doubt it.

What's GMac's base? $300k? Anyone know what we'd be on the hook for if he was let go?

I know he started at $225k with some form of built in raise. Is ISU obligated to payout the contract if he is fired for sucking?

Can someone, anyone, explain to me why Haluska played nearly the entire 2nd half while Boozer got to watch? At this point, Boozer should be getting all of Haluska's minutes.

Uh, yeah - it's called breach of contract for a reason...

Everybody should take a look at the recruiting being done around the Big 12. We may be getting an influx of talent but schools like Oklahoma State and Kansas State are loading up with some awesome talent. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we finished 10th or 11th again next year WITH Brackins.

Precisely. I really really hope McDermott encourages a few of the kids to attend position skill camps this summer to help them catch up little bit. They need some accelerated development...
