***Official 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Thread***

First Four started in 2011

The following games went to overtime
2014 - Tennessee 78 Iowa 65
2021 - UCLA 86 Michigan State 80
2022 - Notre Dame 89 Rutgers 87 (2 OT)

This is the first OT game between 16 seeds in the First Four

Asheville and Little Rock in 2011 -- OT game between 16s.

Only way the auto qualifier would be removed is if the tournament would contract to 32 teams. There are what, 33 at large spots starting next year with the PAC dissolving. If you can’t get in as a P6 team, you don’t deserve to.

That lack of awareness is right up there with Saban’s comments to Congress.
Even though I agree with much of what Saban was saying, I couldn't believe he was sitting there talking about fairness and level playing fields.

Holy cow!

The Grambling coach was great in the post game interview. Just telling it as it is with their quick turnaround to get ready to play Edey.

The night before the start of the Round of 64 (the real tournament to me), I always watch the previous year’s One Shining Moment to get ready.

Just finished it and damn, just one time. All we want is one time to have that be us at the end. My wife is a UConn grad and she’s been so lucky to see it so many times.

I admit I would be crying like a little ***** if we ever got to experience that as Cyclone Nation.

I just had a problem with the hypocrisy of him making hundreds of millions of dollars and then complaining about students wanting to get paid as well.

Our JV was 6. Maybe depends on "era" or state.
The 6, 7, 8 minute quarters are by NFHS definition. Sub varsity contests can be varied by agreement of both teams (but I ALWAYS discourage JV teams from playing 8 minute quarters). I am not sure about JH games, if they can be 7 minutes, as I have never seen anyone request anything except 6 minutes.

Just did my first one. Have no clue because I basically solely focus on big 12 and a little big 10. No clue about out west, east and south.

JH can only be 6, JV can be 8, but I rarely see them anything but 7.
