Looks like could be a busy Spring in Iowa with tornadoes. Go to 7:05 mark:

More than what we are use to seeing? Maybe in the last few years..........but there is a reason why many, many decades ago they coined that area "tornado alley". Tornado's in that area are the usually norm in the spring.

I'm planning to be in Iowa next week and might hit up a couple of local spots with the fly rod to see if the pike are moving at all with warmer temps and lots of sun.

What kind of weather gathering machine do you have? I am looking at a Davis? What info does it gather?
I actually have installed two of these:

One is at our home and one is at an important rural location with internet available. I have used Davis and Accu-Rite units and this seems to be a fantastic blend of durability and accuracy at a decent price point.

"Monitor indoor and outdoor conditions, including wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, UV, solar radiation, barometric pressure, indoor/outdoor temperature (F and C), indoor/outdoor humidity, dew point, heat index, wind chill, and more..."

My neighbor has a Davis and likes it. He said he has seen over 10” of rain per hour on it a couple times. Only lasted a very short time, thank goodness.
We did have isolated spots that got 11 inches in one hour in central Iowa not that long ago. Ankeny in particular got nailed and Larry Cotlar was killed in that storm.
