***2023-24 Mens College Basketball Thread***

South Carolina getting boatraced at Auburn. They look like one of those teams that goes 13-5 in the SEC then gets a 7 seed.

Also, South Florida is 11-1 in the American and nowhere near the bubble. They should at least be in the conversation if they turn in a 16-2 type year.

Who was that football coach the Huskers fired for only winning nine games?

A coach coming off a final 4 with a 20-8 record and terrible attendance.
That’s my point, it doesn’t happen because winning is all that matters. Winning big and winning regularly puts butts in seats and kept a coaches jobs secure. That’s why “records don’t matter” is so wrong, they are all that matter. That’s why a coach would never get fired with wins equal or above school expectations with no butts in seats (it hasn’t happened because of the winning) and why a coach would get fired if attendance was great and alums were happy but they were a losing coach. The winning is the difference, it’s always the difference

So anyways, UCF with 62 second half points falls short of BYU 90-88. 26 points in the first half, wild turnaround.

I know it was yesterday, just interrupting whatever the hell that argument is.
Smart call. Also any back door chance Iowa had of getting in is gone with that Maryland loss. Also can’t believe SC gets pasted by 40 when they are ranked eleventh

South Florida is below 100 in KenPom and 103 in the NET. They have beaten Memphis which was a good win...at the time. Not so great now. Beat FAU this weekend and I bet their in the discussion but they realistically need to win out.

No, you said a coach would never get fired in the hat situation. I am saying that hat situation has literally never happened. If it did, then the coach would get fired.

I think there is a bit of semantics at play here. Coaches don't get fired unless they lose support of boosters, fans, ADs, etc. But, most of the time that loss in support comes from not being competitive, not getting wins, a scandal, or lack of progress/momentum.

So really I think both arguments are correct.

Anybody else notice how bad Arkansas is this year? What happened?

Musselman was suppose to be the next hotshot recruiter and coach.

Anybody else notice this with Iowa this year? What happened?

Fran has lead them to 5 straight tournaments according you. I guess all posters on GIA are idiots then. Pretty sad when you have all these threads about Fran and company.

I try to steer this back on track because people are sick of this and you just can't help yourself.

I already know why Iowa sucks this year, I specifically asked about Arkansas. Are you able to comprehend that? So either take your L from yesterday and give some input on Arkansas or move along.

Lol. Thats not in the top 5 of dumb things ive posted. Though perhaps not super clear.

Painter sucks. He gets quality land whales at center to plow thru the B1G every year, and then he gets beat on the perimeter and outcoached in the tourney every year.

And Fran is demonstrably worse, just in different ways.
Quoting this because the term "quality land whales" needs more love. I challenge anyone to picture Edey lumbering down the court while making whale noises and not chuckle a little bit.

This is a thread about 2023-24 Men's College Basketball. Some of your rants on here are hard to comprehend you get so worked up you can't type (see below) and you took it off track when someone responded to a post about Iowa's coach position being open. Take your L from last night and enjoy it. :)You're the Iowa troll sticking up for Francis on an Cyclone site. Move along back to the hawk sites.

If you go back the last decade he's made the tournament 8 out of 10 years including the 2020 projections. Matt Painter has the exact same amount of appearances in that time frame.

They ate actually tied with Purdue and Wisconsin for 2nd most appearances in that time frame. They aren't firing a coach like that.

So that should be the expectation for Iowa becuase Wisconsin did it? They also had Bo Ryan, he coached circles around Fran.

I its

It's one year, start winning again and the fans will come back. If it's still **** attendance and apathy 2 years from now I'd say you have a good argument.

Personally I think he'll leave on his own terms either this year or next so it won't get to that point.
