Looking for a New Mattress

Really good. We both seem to really like it. My wife is pregnant and she's said it fixed a lot of the hip/back stiffness/soreness that she had last time she was pregnant. It's maybe a little firmer than I thought it'd be which is good for me and she was a little concerned about that but it's been a good buy so far.
Guess the bolded answers the question on whether you liked the mattress.

We've got a Sealy Posturepedic and love it. I think there are 3-4 different models/levels of firmness and we went with the 2nd most firm. When testing the firmest was slightly uncomfortably when sleeping on the side (which the GF does a lot).

Sealy basically makes the best mattresses on the floor. When I told the sales guy, after trying several other brands/models, they seemed to feel the best (and were rated as such) he basically said "there's a reason Sealy's don't run a lot of sales"; they don't need to. When they do it's all factory based, so unless a store is going out of business, they are usually the same price everywhere.

Hope this helps someone.

I bought a $2000 sealy posteurpedic hybrid 5-10 years ago for $800 on Black Friday. It had a huge dip where I sleep in less than 6 months and caused severe back pain lol. I replaced it with a Amazon cheapo and it's 1000x better. We had wildly different experiences. For reference I'm like 210 pounds.

Damn dude. Everyone makes lemons, even good companies, but if it did that after 6 months I'd be PISSED. Especially given the amount of time I spent researching and trying out.

We've had ours now for about 2-3 years. We weigh between 180-200 lbs and the bed (thus far) has held up well.

Looking for a bed is one of the bigger pain in the ass buys I've had the last several years. It's one of the more important, yet consistently underrated, purchases one makes.

Hey, cheap and high quality can be too good to be true sometimes. I'm glad you had better luck than me!

No doubt. A bed is one of those things I'd never buy online without being able to text out the model on a floor somewhere. Much the same with buying shoes.

Bumping this thread - my wife and I are looking for a new mattress. Her chiropractor recommended a Zinus Euro Top 12" Hybrid Mattress. Anyone have experience with Zinus mattresses? Seeing mixed online reviews but they are affordable and have a 90-day return policy.

I prefer a firmer mattress (I sleep pretty good on firm hotel mattresses). Ours is sagging and we're having more back pain. Also would prefer some bounce for bed-time fun.

Probably explains why your current mattress needs to be replaced....right?

Never heard of Zinus. We bought I think a Sealy from Costco, Hated it. We both had back pain. Called them, they sent out a truck to take it back, no charge, full refund. So then we ordered from Costco the 12" Novaform. That was the keeper for us.

Naturepedic has it fully customizable from the springs up and can be different on halfs of the bed. They also allow you 30 days to try or new laytex layers for you to determine desired fit.

I think all the mattresses in a box are the same. My daughter has a hybrid Zinus. No complaints from her.

We've just decided to buy the hybrid mattresses in a box, usually firm or med firm. They're inexpensive, sleep fine, and when they wear out/start sagging in a few years toss it and buy a new one. We bought mid-range mattresses in the past, and they are no better.

I can fall asleep anywhere so I'm not a good judge of what is comfortable, but my wife hasn't complained about it so they must be okay. I'd hear about it if they were uncomfortable.

My current mattress is a 7 year old Saatva that was around $2k new I think. I guess I'm OK with replacing a few hundred dollar mattress every 3-5 years vs a $2k mattress.

Biggest concern is not trying it before buying it. With return policies it can be done, just some hassle to deal with.

I'm a big guy, 6'-1" 250 lb, and just want it to be firm for my size.

I'm bigger yet and this has had plenty of firmer support for me over the years. We're going on nearly a decade on this mattress. My side is starting to sag a bit but the wife's side is the same as it has always been. I assume our is the "original" model because I think they only had one option when we got ours.

Look at the sleep number, the beds themselves are not that pricy it's when you get the frame that adjusts up and down that costs really add up. We have the series 8 bed, that allows each side to adjust their own personal level of softness. I prefer a harder bed, while the wife prefers a softer bed. Sleep number allows for both. We tried an expensive termpur pedic bed and it killed my back, before we replaced it with a sleep number.

Speaking of Costco, anyone have experience with their Kirkland mattress made by Stearns and Foster?

That's an option... but $1800 for their cheapest King vs. $300-500 for much cheaper options that we may or may not like, but could return.

You have a 100 night guarantee with sleep number and they do have a lot of sells to purchase them cheaper. A quality bed is something that should last 15 years, and are worth the money, in my opinion.

My parents just bought a DreamCloud Premier Hybrid King. 365 days to try it out. If you end up not liking it, they'll come and get it for a return. The price is pretty reasonable I think.

This Tom's Guide link has some good info on their mattress picks. The DreamCloud was highly rated here.
