The last time we played BYU was when Ejim flipped the bird. That ISU team was ranked #11 in AP then lost at WVU by 25 on Feb. 10th: 1705466617672.png

Then they went to the S16 beating UNC without Georges.

Their first Big 12 home game. They shot 46 3's and made 14. Cincinnati went to the line 24 times. BYU went like 10 times and made 5.

Played rather poorly
So Cincy has better perimeter D and used size to dominate the Free Throw margin.

Next you’re gonna tell me Cincy out-rebounded them and had more points in the paint?

Slow it down and get it inside to our bigs. Same as at Hilton. If the shots not there kick it out and try again. Have to learn how to not get sped up. When it happens on offense, seems to carry over to the defense
King's foul trouble affected that.

If the student section doesn't have posters of Super Soakers are they even trying anymore?

That team was so loaded with talent. Nader, Monte, Matt, George all NBA players. Melvin 1st team all big 12, Deandre Kane just a beast. That team was final 4 ready until the GN injury.

Our defense is our offense, and when we aren’t playing good defense it exposes how bad our half-court offense really is. This has been the trend for the last 3 seasons.

And while the score is different......this type of ball game played by ISU tonight reminded me a lot of how they played in Tech last year. They proceeded to go 3-9 to finish the season, losing 7 in a row at one point and with 2 of those wins against Baylor.

Hopefully that won't be the trend this season.

Get ready for more 3s from TCU. They made 11 of them tonight against Cincinnati. We're lucky if we hit 3 a game. 33-9 point differential is hard to make up.
...we HAVE to hit more 3s if the other teams are going to light it up for 10+ makes a game.
I agree the three point shooting needs to be better. But BYU had 35 three point attempts, which was 61% of their total shot attempts. Taking that high of three point shots is not what this team thrives on. What ISU should get better at is making the open three pointers. But keep pounding the ball in the paint, force turnovers, and score easy points off the turnovers.

ISU only scored 10 points off turnovers tonight. BYU scored 17 points off turnovers. That’s the biggest reason why ISU lost that game. That metric needs to get better against TCU if they want to win

Actually watched that game BYU missed a lot of open looks. BYU was leading by 7 at half.

2nd half they kept chucking 3's and missing. Sometimes early in shot clock.

Shooting is contagious and missing shots is just as contagious

Tough ask to beat UCONN at MSG and we almost pulled it off.

And UCONN won the title.

Dang. I was at that game too!

Dustin Hogue went ballistic.

Partied at Foley’s on 33rd (now closed!)

I liked that place

Edit:
Hogue is from Yonkers NYC. Had to be a dream come true to show out like he did at Madison Square Garden in an EXTREMELY high caliber game.

We don't need to take a bunch more 3s but we need to make more. We're shooting like 20% from 3

Love this in theory but do we have a back to basket throw it to post in conference play guy right now? Not really wards game and King is struggling. Missing Osun right now.

Yup.

And Cincy didn’t give up a trillion offensive rebounds on those misses like we did.

Not excited about Lipsey going out holding that shoulder. Hopefully, that was a just a tweak and nothing torn. BYU has earned the treatment they get in Hilton. (Unless we have not learned straight up M2M D, then they will have fun.)
Agree. He snapped his L arm toward the BYU players mid section, then quickly retracted it without his hand hitting the player hard or at all, it seemed to me. Then he quickly held onto his L mid arm, perhaps like something popped or subluxed? Just speculating.

So, yeah, I guess they (TJ/postgame) are saying something shoulder (?) but don't know more than that yet. It could be serious or just a minor tweak of something. The shoulder can be very tricky. I hope he didn't injure or strain his rotator cuff.
