***2023-24 College Football Thread***

I will continue to say that next to Jimbo, there is no more overrated coach than Franklin. Both do very little for the level of recruits they pull in. They can't win the big games when more than just talent matters.

Uhhh, no duh?

Penn state also has two NFL DB’s not playing and their top DE who is going to the NFL. Ole miss isn’t really missing anyone on offense and they were ranked 11th
To be fair, Ole Miss is better than Ole Mass-*! / sarcasm. Seriously, it is a shame that Penn State has so many opt outs for the Peach Bowl. Even without the missing players, it has still been an entertaining game.

The really bad news is that if Penn State goes down and Michigan goes down, Iowa will benefit for being the highest ranked B1G Team to win their Bowl Game, as Tennessee has so many opt outs / transfers, they are asking for "Volunteers" to play in the ciTrUs Bowl.

Oh, I think Iowa will beat Tennessee and finish 11-3. If that happens, They could (if Michigan loses to Alabama) be the highest rated B1G team to win their Bowl Game. Punch line or not, that is much better than losing to an 8-4 Tennessee team missing a bunch of players (including their QB). Do not get me wrong. I will be rooting for the Vols to beat the Hawkeyes!

I get that but what does being the highest rated big ten team to win their bowl game get them? That was kinda my point. Of course you want to win but all people think about with Iowa is the horrific offense. They might not be able to even score on Tenn since they can hardly score on anyone.

I think the conference v. conference thing means less and less with the state of college football today, opt outs, transfer portal, etc. If McCord and Harrison Jr. play last night, there's no way they lose to Mizzou, who averaged 34+ ppg this year but only got 14 last night at full power. Sounds like PSU is missing both starting CBs today? That's not good vs. a Lane Kiffin offense. If Iowa beats Tennessee it's hard to take much from it given their stud QB and other key players opting out and transferring. Sucks, but it's where we are.

I'm trying to poke fun at the B1G and obviously failing in the humor department! :)

It would definitely not be a good look for the B1G, if Michigan follows up the Ohio State Cotton Bowl loss and Penn State Peach Bowl loss with a Rose Bowl loss to finish (0-3) in NY6 Games and leaving Iowa (Citrus), Northwestern (Las Vegas), Maryland (Music City), Wisconsin (Reliaquest) or Minnesota (Quick Lane) with the best B1G Bowl Win of the season.

As for Iowa, they would get a nice Win and a nice Trophy if they beat the Vols. There are worse things.

Doesn't Tennessee have a bunch of guys out?

Again biased here but the Michigan game is all that matters. The other games all have top NFL talent out. If Michigan beats bama (which I don’t think will happen) then they most likely win the title. If they lose it might be harbaugh to the NFL time.

I agree that Ohio State and Penn State not being at full speed hurt them, but that was their choice. Looking forward to Michigan vs. Alabama on NYD @ Rose Bowl. That should be a fair fight.

It's truly amazing how bad he is against top 15 teams. I don't know the stats but it feels like it's similar to ISU pre CMC. I think I would rather have the roller coaster ride of the Cyclones than the predictability of Penn State even though they win a lot more games.
