I'm beginning to think how to use an apostrophe is no longer taught in school or a lot of people missed school that day.
A few examples:
"The Yoda's wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"
And cards addressed to "The Vader's" (The Vader's home? the Vader's kids, the Vader's dog, the Vader's light saber? Or is it addressed to The Vader Is?)
Sign outside a business: "Light saber's for sale" (Do they have 1 light saber for sale? Or does the light saber possess something else for sale?)
Keeping up with the Jones's (with the Jones's what??) - sorry, couldn't think of a Star Wars related example for that one

Is the apostrophe catastrophe just a sliver of a larger education catastrophe which in turn may be leading to a computerization-driven thinking catastrophe? Are we losing (loosing!) our ability to think? To write? To count correct change? To interact effectively and compassionately with our fellow man? Even to look him directly in the eye?
No problem.Does the logo have the official spelling of "Cyclonefanatic?"
If so, I've been misspelling it as "CycloneFanatic" for years!![]()
Should be "The Yodas' wish you..." or "The Yoda family wishes you..."Should be addressed: The Vaderses.![]()
That's a loose teacher, bet that teacher is a loser for not teaching the english language. It's not that they don't teach that **** in school. A lot of kids just have their heads up their asses for most of the day. I think it's always been that way. Yes, even back in the good old days. It's a loose loose for the teachers.
The one I see a ton is people using breaks when they mean brakes. I hope they don't get them mixed up in real life and break something when they should be hitting the brakes. When did boarders ( room renters) replace border (defining line between geographic areas?) That is a common one also![]()
That has to be frustrating! The ' should be removed from the english language. I have an ' in my name. I'ts a pain in the arse. everything is in a database, looking up loans, credit, banking for example, is it:
O'Tool
O Tool
Otool
O tool
O'tool
And there are probaly others. but I'm forever in the "Try This" mode.
Texting and auto correct. It’s the same problem when people use the wrong words but are spelled correctly like there, your, where, to, etc.Texting shorthand and lazy grammar is to blame for some of this.
My son's 5th grade teacher wrote on his evaluation that he had alot of energy. That's a loose teacher, bet that teacher is a loser for not teaching the english language.
