49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

Honestly after watching years of Jimmy G and Alex Smith prior where they were helpless to throw beyond 20 yards downfield this is spectacular. Brock hits with great accuracy 35 - 50. I've seen him hit many 40, 45 yard shots with pure accuracy. Right on the fingertips in full stride away from the defender.

I have no idea what's wrong with that? So he doesn't throw 70 yards. So? That's a low percentage play anyway for even those rare few who can do it.

I would have thought I died and went to heaven as a 49ers fan for an accurate thrower of 35, 40, 45, 50 yards. Yes that is STRETCHING the field. You can stretch it like that.

:)

Some of that could be opinion, or systemic differences. JT doesn't know what was called or what the coaches are telling Brock. I mean if the bar is perfection at a near precognitive level then sure, anyone could get better. That is kind of the only way Brock can get better though. Making the most correct throw and decision ever play, regardless of external factors like rush, throwing lanes, route timing etc. That's kind of unrealistic but would be legendary to see him achieve. I hope he is that good. We need the next big thing to come around.
JT admits on the throws that Brock passes up that it may just not be the read on the play or coaches may even tell him not to go there. Hes constantlybsaying he doesn't know what the routes and reads are, sonthats always a caveat.

As for being nit picky, that seems like the point of film review. If you are going to break down film isn't the the point to show what the ideal outcome is? I hope that's what Brock is doing when he breaks down film. Sees what he can improve on. Perfection may Not be attainable, but its the goal.

He's a little nit picky to the point of annoying. The Chase Daniel QB breakdowns are better on YouTube. Of course they always try to improve and Brock does. The already great play they will try to improve. But I got to tell you it's the best I've seen in 20+ years for the 49ers.

For you fellas who know what you're talking about (you watch a ton of NFL football), how much more do you think Brock can develop before his contract comes up for negotiation?

Is he at his peak, or will experience elevate his game even higher? Does he have a glass ceiling?
Tough question. It's hard for me to imagine him playing any better than he is now.
His surrounding team is off the charts (tho the current oline could use improvement). I think his improvement going forward will largely revolve around his supporting cast.

Just today saw a report that his pass pro was rated 21st, yet he is tops in so many QB stats it beggars the imagination. (The right side of his OL is suspect, imho.)

JT is a major Brock fan, states time and again that BP is playing at an incredible level.

For me, I understand we all are human beings, and none of us are perfect in our daily lives. I relish the belief that JT is not a homer but a pro who will give you his analysis as he sees it.

I understand what you are saying and where you are going with it. I also respect the point of view. My problem with JTO is a lot of his videos will just do POSITIVES and NEGATVIVES because he wants to include both sides. That's just how he does all videos. So even a spectacular performance like 4 TD's, 0 interceptions, high rating, hitting people deep he will try to come up with something. It's the just the FORCE some negative things into the video stuff that bugs me.

Of course Brock will look at all things and try to improve. It's hard to be perfect if you are human.

Love JT, but at times his criticism fails to "be there - on the field." Almost expects, "superhuman," in terms of split second decision making.

That's what I admire, he includes both the positive and the negative. Both are required to understand any evaluation.

I am a Cyclone fan (and now a 49er for sure), I do not want to be spoon fed pablum. Give it to me real.

Watching Brock the last few weeks, and paying close attention to JT's criticisms as well as his praise of BP, it seems to me his comments - as he breaks down BP's video - is right on target.

Gotta say it again, Brock ain't perfect, but damn if he isn't better than every other NFL quarterback (imo).

Yet, I don't want to be fed candy, rather I want "honest" analysis from those who provide what they believe is honest commentary.

Best wishes to you.

I've watched both, and I don't agree that Chase is "better", it's just a difference of opinion. I prefer JT and think he backs up everything he says with the film. Chase obviously knows what he's talking about as well, so if that's what you prefer then that's great. Just not for me. Plus Cyclone fans have some old grudges we hold against Chase... and he eats his own boogers.;)

Please, please, please...Mr. Cameraman...a shot of Brock and Charlie hugging each other, Christmas night!

On JT's videos he's starting to be a little critical of Brock passing on some deep throws that are open. He's not sure if Brock doesn't trust his arm on really deep throws or if it's just not the read on the play, but it seems like that might be an area of growth for Brock.
Just wait for Shanahan to take the leash off and tell Brock to take that deep shot. 4d chess. Play up Brock has a week arm and will pass on deep routes, then watch him hit dots in the SB.

::jimlad::

They talked about how Deebo's touchdown was due to criticism of him not running full tilt when he's not the read. Or maybe they just said that to make the safety second guess next time....

TJ is the best because he thinks Deebo is a lazy ass and calls him out on it every week. Funny as hell.

TJ is better than Chase because he’s professional and balanced + has a great football IQ of course.
