I absolutely love this sport. From the NCAA, to networks, to coaching salaries, to piles of money not being shared to its athletes yet blaming the players wanting a piece of the pie, to stupid ways to crown national champions, to every little thing that continues to happen as the years go on, this sport is fantastic!

Exactly. It is important to unfurl the curtain to see what interests are hiding behind it. The NCAA made this announcement for the purpose of benefiting the NCAA. The NCAA's cash cow is the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA is trying to stay relevant (and solvent) by floating some "reorganizing" ideas to the P5 / P4 schools. We'll see what happens.
Nah there is no P2 or a league that is that small, you cut out too many people. It just doesn’t work
I can't imagine a more lucrative format for NCAA tournament than the current setup in terms of my own interest.
1. Iowa State and games directly effecting Iowa State
2. Watching cinderella almost exclusively in NCAA tournament
3. NBA playoffs.
4. NBA regular season
-----Gigantic massive gap
5. Other regular season NCAA basketball and the NCAA tournament the years the chalk teams dominate
If the NCAA tournament became some 50-80 team league with a smaller playoff and the same blue bloods dominating it all the time instead of the massive number of teams and massive field we have now I would have ABSOLUTELY ZERO interest in it beyond watching ISU when we participate. None.
I used to watch CFB all day on Saturdays, through P12 after dark. The last couple of years I only watch B12 and occasionally ACC, P12 and G5 games of interest. I make a point of no longer watching big and sec, as well as College Game Day…though I have looked in on Big Noon on FOX a couple of times but am over it.
I guess if college sports has to die off might as well do it after ESPN revealed they rig it in the favor of their own personal properties.

- Does the NFL really need a minor league system? They've made money hand over fist for decades and have never put any of it towards developing a minor league. To me, that means there's no ROI from a combination of improved player development or fan engagement.
- As big as college football is, the NFL still dwarfs it. The blue bloods have largely driven everything towards getting more for themselves - money, power, control. Cozying up to the NFL goes the other way on that. For example, can you imagine Texas being cool with doing something because the Cowboys or Texans told them to? I can't. "Hey Texas, we know you have that big coming up this weekend, but our QB went down so yours is getting called up."
- Would NFL teams want the headache of dealing with colleges that have other priorities? If they wanted a minor league, they'd fund and control everything about it without cutting others in.
Interesting maybe the P2 will just tell them to f*ck off we don't need to share the pie with you. Unless ISU is in it I will have 0 interest in this and more than likely ignore it all except maybe the championship game if I have nothing better going on that night.

Nope wrong. That's a rival wanting your rival to be relegated to get a laugh at them, but fun fact, those teams have a clear path back in by being promoted and there's zero chance (I am a diehard Arsenal fan btw) I would ever NOT want to play Tottenham in the EPL. That's the entire point of sports is to play and beat your rival. And yes between Iowa and Iowa State fans, sure I guess some would relish the other's demise, that's a rivalry though. But we have OU and Texas fans loving what potentially happened to their old conference mates. Why does Texas care about Kansas State or Iowa State, we aren't rivals at all?

Maybe, but for those “left out” the smaller the P2, the better.
IMO, a P2 comprised of the 20 school or 24 schools that want/can pay millions for their roster and continue the uncapped arms race is better for Iowa State than a top level P2 of 40 or 50 schools.
Ideally all of the P4 can get on the same page, embrace that the era of shoehorning a billion dollar industry into the antiquated amateurism model is dead…initiate a controlled transition to the employment model before it’s forced onto them in the same Wild West manner that NIL was.
Give me employment with a CBA that keeps in check NIL-as-inducement, plus a salary cap

2. A P2 with 20 schools is not profitable as people will stop watching, again this isn’t the NFL
LOL!!! I want Tottenham to lose every match naturally BUT as it pertains to this entire discussion I in no way ever want to see them not play in the EPL because not playing them would be so boring. So they need to lose just enough to stay in the EPL and not be relegated haha.
